      • Yes, it is a tragic, disgusting phenomenon where now popular culture lauds the exploiter.
        I think the popular culture of the last few decades tried to promote a concept of a modern, liberated open woman, who is not insistent upon having a relationship with ‘strings attached’.
        I think a lot of women embraced this concept because the ‘fashion’ of the time made it appear that it was an empowering stance, that increased a woman’s maturity, autonomy, and power.
        I think a lot of women felt that this was ‘doing the right thing,’ and that it would result in an healthier, deeper relationship with a man.
        Unfortunately, what happened is that it enabled misogyny, exploitation and devaluation of women on an enormous scale.
        Now there is a reprehensible common attitude of a man assesssing a woman as an object good enough for sex, but not marriage, and even in this day and age, a woman’s worth __ according to many__ is determined by whether or not a man marries her.
        I am sure most women are unhappy with any sort of ‘friends with benefits’ scenario.

          • I will never think of Travis as a victim. Sorry. I had moments when I wondered if he set Jodi up and tried to put an end to himself and leave her to face the music but realistically he was a coward, so I doubt it. Wonder if the Frog & his family are wishing they had taken the plea deal yet? They certainly proven everything they said about Travis was a flat out LIE!

    • Of course, it is! I don’t think the defense team had access to these texts then, did they? (I’ll admit that there are so many texts and so many fill-in-the-blank-with-different-name girls that it’s hard to keep up!)

      I don’t see how anyone could listen to these texts and the browser histories on his computer and not believe that there was a more-than-good-chance that the first jury would have reached a different verdict if these pieces of evidence had come in at the guilt phase trial.

      That’s one of the reasons I think that the best chance of reverse-and-remand will be at the federal appeals level. There is no vested interest there.

      • Paige, some of them sound vaguely familiar through ALV’s testimony, but all she could say was that they were vulnerable – had children etc. – couldn’t really get into evidence because of the cheating prosecutor’s objections as here say, etc.

  119. my concern regarding this line of questioning is that some of the jurors may feel is if Jodi became aware of Travis’s behavior it may have fueled the fire for the crime that she was convicted of…but, imo had nothing to do with.

      • The letter to Lisa always sounded to me as if a MALE wrote it…someone who couldn’t talk to Lisa face to face but wanted to warn her about Travis.

            • The guy that left went back in December I think it was and I believe his first name was John. He and Travis didn’t get along apparently and he just left one day out of the blue. I remember something about Jodi bringing something for TA to eat from work and he wasn’t there so she gave it to John and he ate it.
