    It seem to mme that I’ve seen, on the web at large, discussion of other possible sentences.

    • I believe that the judge has an option as to life – either LWOP or life with possibility of parole after 25 years…correct me if I am wrong….please 🙂

      • I read __ not sure how correct it, or my memory was, but I read that since there was LWP when Jodi was charged (?), then even though there is now no LWP, the law applies to her as it was then.
        I realize that now Arizona has no system in place to let Arias out earlier than a life- sentence,
        but my thinking is that since the possibility of LWP existed when she was charged __ and if the judge sentences her now to LWP, then a lawyer(s) can force the issue and ‘ make ‘ there be a process to let her out.

    • People:
      I have read the “Revised Arizona Statutes regarding this many times.
      If the first jury had decided no death, Jodi would have automatically received “natural life” which is life without parole (LWOP).

      Since the first jury hung, life with parole (LWP) goes on the table so if the jury hangs again or comes back unanimous for ” no death”, the judge must select either LWP or LWOP for her sentence. This seems to be some sort of compensation for the second attempt to kill you – lol.

      Arizona statutes are very restrictive regarding pardons and commutations so there is not much chance she will ever be released if she gets LWOP other than by reconsideration (by judge) of the original sentence. A judge could, for example, change LWOP to LWP and she could enter the normal parole system (25 years to first parole hearing). In Virginia, it is, or used to be 14 years, but hardly anyone ever gets first parole.

      Jodi currently has about 19.5 years state time in already. Maricopa’s jail is so overcrowded inmates get 3 days credit (good time) for each day they do. Once Jodi is sentenced, she will go to a classification facility (in Virginia at least) where she will stay for a few months to a year. Then, based mostly on her behavior there, she will be routed to a final facility (possibly minimum security/mental if she can be trusted with wood/plastic furniture as opposed to needing the steel anchored in concrete – lol). Each facility has its own “good time” formula. For instance when I was at Montgomery County Correctional Facility (MCCF) in Boyds, MD, I had to do 15 months on 18 months (5 for 6). This is not nearly as good as Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (known as the scourge of the nation – lol) where we would usually do 1 for 2 (half our time).
      So if Jodi gets Life WITH parole, she will have her first parole hearing in about 2.75 – 5.5 years depending on the good-time rate of her facility. I’m not sure how often parole hearings are after the first one, but I think they are about every 5-10 years (7-10 in Virginia?).

            Nurmi should file a motion about that. It is inexcusable. I am sorry for their loss and pain, but they are very intentionally trying to prejudice/ contaminate a legal process. That should be considered crime; this is a death penalty case.
            They absolutely planned that calculated, despicable stunt.
            There is no excuse for JSS not imposing a real consequence.
            I am sorry for Travis’s family, but why don’t they have compassion for Jodi’s family?
            Every single day Jodi’s siblings have to fear that she will die.

            Has this ever happened or been condoned in any other court room?!
            And JSS just told the gallery to not make any displays of emotion/ reaction etc..
            This should be an appellate issue.

        • I hope so. It was definitely something they planned ahead of time, which shows their contempt for lawful procedure, AND their belief that they can always get away with it.
          It was not even that they were overtaken by emotion___ if that is what they will falsely claim.
          It was a deliberate attempt to unlawfully influence the process.
          The court can pretend all it wants; there is no way that that did not influence the jury.

    • It was bad enough when Stephen did that this morning and I felt that was questionable, but this is just too much for the judge to ignore….no way she can ignore this…and no way the jury can just pretend it didn’t happen even though someone reported that they kept their eyes on KN…matters not…..it is the act of the protest/demonstration that is absolutely taking Jodi’s constitutional rights away…and this is what JSS must address and has no option…..IMHO

      My friends boyfriend was on trial, the judge said IF you feel you’re going to cry leave
      before the jury comes back in.
      She didn’t make a scene, she just left the courtroom.
      PLUS said through the whole trial without any emotions.
      She was afraid she would be thrown out.

      NOT THIS JUDGE!!!! I can’t even call her judge anymore!!!

These displays/demonstrations/protests in front of the jury today – 3 of them so far – Stephen this morning, all the family and friends en mass this afternoon and now this sister just now – all should cause a mistrial…they are denying Jodi her right to a fair trial !!!! If this judge does nothing, then you can bet this will be a big appellate issue on appeal…………
