The JAA Appellate Fund – Update & Forward Plans

in Latest News by

I’m planning to post my thoughts on the forthcoming Presidential Election a few days from now (so brace yourself)… but in the meantime, this is a reminder to let you know the JAA Appellate Fund total (as of the end of September), stands at $103,375.48

The ultimate target for the fund is $250,000 — with all funds going towards covering the legal fees associated with appealing Jodi’s wrongful conviction.

So as of right now, the Fund is around $147,000 short of its target. Not good.

Sure, it’d be great if someone donated $147,000 out of the blue… or even if 3 people donated $49,000 each… but in reality, I don’t see that happening any time soon.

In fact, over the past 3 months, the average of total monthly donations into the Fund has only been $283. That’s not the average donation amount unfortunately, but the TOTAL donations put together… and quite frankly, it’s very poor. And if you break that down to a DAILY total, it comes to just over $9. WTF? Even your typical homeless guy has more than $9 a day thrown at him while he’s begging outside McDonalds (with a paper cup.)

So what’s the solution? It’s simple really. The solution is a group of genuine Jodi supporters getting together and making a firm commitment to making a regular monthly donation to the Appellate Fund.

And when I say Jodi supporters, I mean that literally — because as we all know, there’s a hell of a big difference between a genuine Jodi Supporter, and a Jodi “fan.” Supporters are worth their weight in gold… they’re here for the long haul… and they’ve been here since 2013… while Jodi fans are very feeble, very fickle, and subsequently they ain’t really worth a crap.

So…

Getting back to my earlier comment — only 400 genuine Supporters pledging to donate just $1 a day (or $30 a month) would insure the fund hits its $250,000 target within the next 12 monthsor maybe even sooner.

Here’s the bottom line:

Read the above paragraph again. It ain’t rocket science folks… because if donations keep coming in at the current rate, it’s gonna be the year 2059 (yup – 43 YEARS from now) before the Fund hits the $250,000 target… and by that time, most of us (including Jodi, Donald and Hillary) are gonna be long gone anyways. A bit drastic, granted… but hopefully you see my point as to why the current rate of donations HAS to increase – and fast.

So here’s what you can do right now to get everything back on track:

Click here (or click the pic below) to visit the official JAA Appellate Fund website – and make your Monthly Recurring donation, safely & securely via PayPal…

The JAA Appellate Fund website
Once you’re in the website, click the DONATE button (highlighted above between the red arrows.)

You’ll then be taken to the secure PayPal page — (see screenshot below) — where you can enter your donation amount, click the “Make This Recurring Monthly” box, and check out via credit card…

Please Note: The objective of this post is not to diminish any previous donations, because all donations received to date have been greatly appreciated. Instead, this post is designed to both highlight the seriousness of the current situation, and to put forward a viable solution.

Remember > All donations via Justice4Jodi.com go directly to the fund. It is also the ONLY website authorized to collect donations. In addition, please DO NOT, under any circumstances, donate through any other website or Facebook page/group claiming to be “official” and/or acting with Jodi’s approval or authorization. The same applies to any “Jodi Membership Clubs”, groups or fake Trust funds that have been set up. These sites are bogus – they continue to steal money from Jodi’s future – and they should be actively avoided. If you are aware of any such sites, please help Jodi by clicking here and reporting them.

And remember this too: With your help — and with your recurring monthly donations — each day that passes takes us one day closer to Jodi’s release date…

we are team jodi - and we will be victorious

  1. I’d just like to add a note to SJ’s excellent fundraising post. In case anyone doesn’t understand this fact: whenever Jodi’s two state-paid appeals end — at a date that no one currently knows — she will have MERE WEEKS to file notice of further appeals by a private lawyer. If she doesn’t have the money she needs for a private lawyer by that deadline, her case is over forever, never having even made it to the AZ Supreme Court, let alone federal courts. Jodi is then certain to die in Perryville.

That is why it is so crucial to keep the fund on track in the years we still have left. If the state-paid appeals end and Jodi’s still, say, $100K short, she can kiss her last chance of freedom goodbye.

  2. Thanks for breaking it down SJ! That’s a sobering thought Alan! We really gotta get this going. If you truly support Jodi, please donate $1/day. The last 3 months have been unacceptable so let’s all do our part. We all know life gets in the way so that’s why I suggested the automatic donation button. You do it once and don’t have to worry about it. We all know what a POS lying, cheating bastard JM is and now it looks like he’s gonna get his! It just means that Jodi has a legit chance on her appeals. $1/day

  3. Question in Maricopa County attorney’s race: Has the office been reformed or mismanaged?

Note: treatment of Juror #17 is mentioned in this article.
Also, Phoenix attorney Diego Rodriguez, who is running against Bill Montgomery for County Attorney, said he would seek the death penalty rarely.

    • It’s unfortunate that Diego Rodriquez wasn’t County Attorney during Jodi’s trial. She probably wouldn’t have faced the death penalty and could have been tried by a jury of her peers instead of the death seeking, Martinez-worshiping knuckle-draggers that wanted to kill her so badly (with the exception of Juror #17). I expect he would rein in Martinez, too.

      • Everything about Jodi’s case and trial was about revenge and fame and not about true justice. Wrong people at the wrong places at the wrong time… only to make a name for themselves and to line their pockets. If that’s what has become of the judicial system, we’re all screwed.

  4. Those of us who truly care about Jodi will do everything in our power to not betray her and our faith in her cause against injustice.

We did not come here because of all the fuss and the tabloid headlines; we made a commitment. And (strictly financially speaking) it’s shameful how much we have let her down so far.

Let’s ALL do the best we can.
It’s already been 3,5 years since her conviction and oh boy… time does fly!!! The state-paid appeals will soon be over and should the Fund total still be low, then none of us will be able to say that we’ve done everything we could to help that poor woman. And it will also be TOO LATE FOR JODI. Do we want to see that happening? I believe no.

We all made an emotional and moral commitment to Jodi and her case.
It’s high time we made a financial one, as well.

  5. You’re so right SJ. We have been slacking off lately when it comes to Jodi’s appellate fund and I bow my head in shame since I haven’t contributed in a while. Your ‘wake-up’ call most certainly shook me up. It’s not a matter of how much each person donates and who is the ‘higher donator’, since a lot of people are in dire straits when it comes to their financials. It’s a matter of donating any amount that we are capable of putting aside for this cause. Either it’s 1$ or 100$ a month, everything helps.

If each of us took lunch from home 4 times a month instead of ordering out and donated that amount of money we’d save from those 4 times we didn’t order out, the total monthly amount of donations would drastically raise.. It’s not so hard to make a sandwich and toss a salad in a tupperware once a week 😉

    • Absolutely Pandora… my father did this for 43 years while working for the government. IT WORKS! I do it myself when I can; bag lunches, leasing a car instead of buying, not driving on toll roads(lot of them in VA) etc. I have been to Canada as well but it was Toronto. Unfortunately, it rained the whole time we were there until the day we left… FIGURES!!!!!!!! 🙂
