Jodi Arias Trial – Day 51

With the motions filed last Sunday, and a good likelihood of Dr. Robert Geffner being introduced a surrebuttal witness for the defense, we are making good positive progress for sure.

Dr Geffner is a psychologist with 28 years of experience. He’s also the founder and president of the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Institute in San Diego and often speaks out against domestic violence.

Let’s see what this week brings as Jodi once again takes one step closer to victory, and the xtreme rebuttling begins.

  6. As much as I dislike JM, Today I’m looking forward to Dr. Geffner’s testimony. I’m so glad someone so well respected can repair the damage that the JM’s so called expert witness caused, not to Jodi, but to their whole professional community.

    I’m of the idea that this chick actually helped Jodi’s case, even though her goal was to hurt her. lol

    • Hi Sil, I agree. I watched baby doc’s cross by JW again last night. After watching it again, I really think she inadvertently helped the defense, especially when she did not consider all of the scales and graphs and then couldn’t name any resources, books or journals.

        • Calling her a Dr would be an honour and she is unworthy of this,that’s for sure.And you’re right;her ignorance and inexperience actually helped Jodi because hopefully there’s more than one person sitting on those jury chairs that have the brains to see it.

  7. Does anybody know that if Dr. Robert Geffner testifies in a surrebuttal whether or not Martinez will get to rebut his testimony? In other words, can a surrebuttal be rebuttaled or will the surrebuttal stand as the last testimony?

    • Oh i would imagine that they have to be able to “cross” the testimony. So yes, they will rebut this.

      JW will question, Pros will cross, JW will re-question.

      Then, the state will call a sur-sur-rebbuttle witness, this witness will testify that this case is a joke, that the judge is actually Andy Kaufman, and then naked clowns will leep out from under the benches singing “thriller” by Micheal Jackson.

    • Goodmorning everyone! !!! Thats a good question Linda. I hope not, I hope that JM can do his cross and that’s it. But idk, I had asked yesterday before the dr Gaffner info had come out if the defense was allowed to also have a rebuttal, then his information came out. Im praying today that the judge allows it. My understanding is that SHE has to allow it first and seeing hiw bias shes been through this whole thing worries me a little. Well we’ll see and im also hoping JM doesnt get another chance to bring another wanna be doc.

    • Surrebuttal, if allowed, is normally the last word in testimony. He does get to cross-examine the witnesses.

  8. Anyone else find it disheartening that nobody in the mainstream media outlets mentions Dr. Janeen Damarte’s lack of experience, and obvious dishonesty and incompetence? They all are saying that she is a major player and was successful in discrediting Dr. Samuels. They see her as a credible witness.
    I can’t speak for everyone here, but I thought her psychological assessment was so phoney I was laughing every time she opened her mouth. Every thing she said contradicted every other thing she said.

    So does it bother anyone else that this psychologist with 2 years experience as a licensed psychologist is given credibility while our witnesses seem to be being mocked?

    I thought she was transparent at best. I could smell fraud just looking at her.

    • Yeah of course they’re going to do that. They’ll find something bad to talk about this dr Gaffner too. I read fb ot0r YouTube has already started. Its so sad, these people cant step aside and let the doc’s and lawyers do what they do. I really hope something, a law or something come out of this and some of these people are held in responsible for trying to intimidate the defense witnesses.

    • Yep, she was a dud as far as I was concerned…lots of big words and no substance. It was so obvious that SHE was the one with the BIAS. I saw a little bit of hln and could not believe how they were singing her praises. Of course, that’s what they are paid to do. None of those HLNers have any real opinions based in reality. There was absolutely nothing credible about baby doc.

      I thought it was interesting that she didn’t take her exam to become licensed after getting or Masters or Phd.
      Wonder if she had to retake it in order to pass?

      • Yes, it is, indeed, interesting that she didn’t take the licensing exam immediately after getting her Ph.D. Usually, individuals who are well prepared by their university programs take the exam right away so that the information is fresh in their minds. If not well prepared, or not confident, they will often enroll in test preparation courses. This prep can take several months. She waited about a year, as I understand. It is entirely plausible that this long delay may have resulted from failing the exam the first time. Many clinicians have difficulty with the exam because they are not well prepared in research methodology and statistical analysis.

    • it`s just more of the same mainstream media crap. “highlighting,“ dr. dementeds inexperience and down points does not go with their plot line. the facts have nothing to do with what sells a story. i actually am very grateful, in a way, for the high levels of b.s. the through. if nasty disgrace was not so busy with her oversell and lies i would never have ended up here. if she had toned it down a little and just made it appear that she was giving me the facts, i would probably still be watching. CONFESSION: i was very busy and in a hard time in my life during the C.A. trial. i was only getting my information from NG and other mainstream media sources. i watched none of the trial except for the verdict and had my mind made up that CA was totally guilty and the jury would make the right decision and convict her. i was shocked when the verdict was read. but i do have a lot of faith in the jury system and said to myself, “self. 12 of you would see more than 1 of you and i guess they saw stuff you just didn`t see.“ and then i tuned into NG that night and saw how she behaved and i was shocked again. how could an american, a lawyer no less, put down a jury and say they were wrong and she KNEW what had happened to caylee. HTF could she possibly know more than the jury. can`t we just admit when we are wrong. i was wrong. so when the JA trial was starting up i thought i would try actually watching the trial and NG to see if maybe she was delivering the news just a little differently than what was really going down. WOW!!! i took notes on the first day to see what points vere news worth to me and than watched NG that night to see her talk about them. except she wouldn`t. she never touched on the important stuff and if she did it was dripping with sarcasm. i couldn`t take it. she helped me open my eyes to the truth, by her lying. just like dr. demented`s evil will be used for good. so i am truly sorry casey anthony if you are reading this. i hadn`t even looked at the evidence before i made my mind up. i was just another one of the brainwashed masses. please forgive me. and god bless SJ and everyone else here. this site has helped me so much. THANK YOU!!

      • lara, I posted something similar about a day ago. I just finished reading Jose Baez’ book about Casey. It made me so furious about what they did to her and to him. I can’t believe that man survived that trial. I also apologized to Casey because my conscience demanded it.

      • Lara, I was the same with Casey Anthony. I was appalled that the Jury found her Not Guilty because, though I really wasn’t paying much attention to the trial, my understanding was that there was a ridiculous amount of evidence proving she was guilty. Through this trial I stumbled upon the caseyisinnocent.com page and read the facts of the case. I remembered hearing about the 84 chloroform related internet searches and the traces found in the trunk if the car and the reported smell. I didn’t realize that all of this was media hype, and as the site admins pointed out, all of that “evidence” was not evidence, just a bunch of bogus nonsense.

        The most powerful factor for me in Jodi’s case that I think relates to Casey Anthony in a way is when Jodi was asked why she did some of the things she did after Travis’ death, she said “I’ve never killed anyone before.” I thought that was very important. How can we presume to know how we ourselves would act in that situation. I agree with Dr. Samuels in that I myself would probably create an alternate reality to avoid dealing with my feelings. The same way I’m sure Casey Anthony didn’t know how to act because she had never lost a child before. There is no “How to behave manual” to teach us how we are supposed to handle tragedy. Sad thing is Casey Anthony is still a victim of the media to this day, and I imagine life won’t be so easy for Jodi when she is free.

        • Missed the response from Jodi in regards to her saying, “I’ve never killed someone before” and how she acted. That is so true, everyone deals with things differently. Same thing with dealing with a breakup, everyone deals with it in their own way. There is no “right” way.

      • you guys are really the best. it`s so nice not to be alone. i too have behaved oddly during a tragedy and had it used against me. there is no one way to react. disassociation is a very powerful tool for people in horrible circumstances. we can never judge a crazy reaction to a crazy situation.

    • And, JD said all that in a gossipy, bad-mouthy, cat-that-got-the-cream kinda way. SHE needs to grow up. She forgot she was TESTIFYING, instead she sat that like a mean high school girl, feeling ‘special’ about being chosen to render her ‘professional’ view. Shame on her, for not considering and taking her position, profession, and part in the trial more seriously. Watching her felt like she had a grudge to bear, a sorta female version of Abe the Whack-a-mole on Dr. Flu’s show. (Just when you think you go rid of him, there he is again…and again).

          Don’t know abe? really? well, he’s the one who was rebuffed by JA and has been ALL over Dr. Flu’s show bad-mouthing JA. His reaction to JA always seems disproportional to his ‘I-only-went-out-with-her-once’ situation. Its over-the-top, bordering on rage, whenever he talks about her. (I say that he must’ve gotten his hand slapped big time by JA).

    • Don’t worry. At least some of the jury saw straight through her.

      It’s the jury that counts, not people watching half the trial on HLN.

            It’s ridiculous that Mormons get upset when their religion is being scrutinized in this case, but don’t seem to care when someone else’s beliefs are thrown under the bus.

  13. Did anyone see NG last night? I just wanted to see if she was saying anything about the new Dr……Someone please help me here I might have missed understood her but she was reading Jodi’s journal from a year after TA’S DEATH….Did I hear right?

    • Yes, I think NG got hold of JA’s journals…I seem to remember her reading from them once before.

      • Kitty now what is really odd is the fact that Jodi was incarcerated a year after TA’s death…now how the heck could NG get a hold of them….she would have been in jail…….I could have been wrong in what she said… humm now the hearings is going….

        • Remember the defense filed a motion to get journals seized from her cell. The jail guys can pretty much take anything, and then of course the County Attorney claims they are public record and releases them when it suits JM’s purpose.

        • I know, I think that her journals were confiscated from jail for some reason. Wasn’t there a motion by the defense to get the journals from the pros? I have a vague memory of something like that happening. Then again , maybe I dreamed it! HA

          • ok,just to get this straight:if her journals were taken and the Pros has them,how on Earth do they end up at NG’s hands?Shouldnt the defense be all over it and file yet another motion for Prosecutorial misconduct?

          • A motion was filed to have the journals returned to Jodi (the ones that were confiscated).
            Willmott handed them to her one day in court so I assume they won

      • thanks cindy i have and it is just beginning now he is a drinker and has to get rid of the alchol he has in the house if he drinks again I will leave his as were he falls this is his 3rd time to the emergency room this one was his heart. but most of it is becase of his liver is half gone from drinking bear and wine and just drinkin. I stoped 20 yrs ago when it gave me heart burn and made me sick not worth it and you and everyone thank you for you kind words and support love you all 🙂 🙂 🙂

        • It’s very difficult to deal with. You have to distance yourself emotionally from his actions. In the end as hard as it is it is his life…..

        • tonya, my ex had liver damage through drink, he went yellow and was in hospital, it was 50/50 if he’d pull through but he as far as I know, has. If your brother doesn’t stop drinking it could be serious.. but the good news is that the liver repairs itself.

          My best wishes for him.

      • Boy, that is a fact. It’s pretty ridiculous. The fact that there are so many days when court isn’t in session doesn’t help plus we are coming up on vacation time for many people including the jurors. If they would have been sequestered this trial would have ended already.

      Shit, If JM is as effective as these people seem to think he is, why has he failed to make his case? Seriously. He has not proven anything. If Jodi had not confessed, I feel he would not have been able to prove without reasonable doubt that she did it. I mean, even with the camera and Jodi’s palm print, his whole case would have been circumstantial, imo. He doesn’t even have the gun. So in fact, really, he has nothing.

      He has nothing proving premeditation. NOTHING.

      • Debbie, I think what the haters are doing is promoting their bogus sites by googling “Jodi Arias is Innocent” and then clicking on the links for *their* bogus sites.

        What that does, is that it tricks Google into thinking that their sites are more popular and so the search results will list them at the top. I just now googled “Jodi Arias is Innocent” and SJ’s site came up as the 8th choice.

        These people don’t have anything else to do, but come up with lame ways to attack Jodi. It’s kinda pathetic really.

        • It was nice to have her around to help us understand, in an unbiased way, Mormon things. It must have been hard for her. There are some very interesting theories about how Mormonism may or may not have had some effect on the situation….she posted about how uncomfortable those things made her….and then faded off.

My opinions about how Mormonism affected the outcome of these events are bountiful, but I don’t think that LDS is any more or less valid an expression of faith than any other form. And I am a religious person. But to massacre a quote from one of my idols, extremism in defense of oppression IS a vice (double entendre intended). I don’t think that Bella would disagree with that, nor do I think that most (healthy) Mormons would either. I really think that what is so offensive is the toxic cocktail of Mormonism and multi level marketing.

    • They probably have Juan fatigue. He’s reaching so much that his rebuttal witnesses just from the looks of it make this more of a circus. Then he gets mad the defense accuses him of using social media etc. this stuff with the gas cans has been beaten to death by Jodi haters and the two weirdos that appeared on TV talking about Travis and Jodi want money and attention. Just saying…I bought a similar blue kerosene plastic can at Walmart some years ago to put water in…in the event my radiator needed more water so it wouldn’t overheat…I chose to buy the blue kerosene can for water because for me the blue color represented for water…note:I already had two small red gas cans for gas for the riding lawnmowers…

    Our SUV had a slow leak…I had it repaired…then me and kids planned a long distance vacation to Florida…and knowing that we would be on the interstate for many long hours…I continued to use the blue plastic can with water in it even after it was repaired…in the event that it started leaking again or running hot…I just didn’t trust that the repair job would hold out on this long trip with the engine staying hot for that long of a time…

    This is great news for the defense, all they have to do is show that clip with the wife holding hubby’s hand in a UFC death grip going on about how she knew Jodi was the type who would take a married man, LOL! Even if she WAS, not any of the pansy ass Chester-molester husbands in THAT circle, LOL!!

    The BEST part is where she told the part about S. Hughes yelling at Jodi for 15 minutes and Jodi’s reaction was to sit at their kitchen table silent and then leaving. I think that is GREAT evidence that shows she became “foggy” when she was yelled at, and that she never became violent or even defended herself!
    BRING IT JUANITA!!

  25. I hope, when all is said and done, that someone does a serious study and exposé of this epidemic of mass hysteria, much like that of the 1692 Salem Witch Trials.

        • I used to click on the AZ Central too…but kept losing connection or an interruption in connection…and for some reason or another when I click on the wildabouttrial link…it just works better for me….and it has AZ Central on his screen…I can’t figure out why it work this way for me…just does…LOL…

    • If you read the transcripts of the meffords on nancy grace , he has a timeline that doesn’t add up , also at the end of his interview he says that he was glad Travis was bringing someone else because it meant Jodi wasn’t around, but Jodi was not around in the eyes of Travis friends because she was a secret. So his testimony would be blown to shreds by JW.

      • Also he says that he met her shortly after she met Travis in Vegas like a month after or something and that he immediately did not like her and said that to Travis, he got upset because they had dated, so that is a lie too

  31. Hi All! I’m hoping today is a good day.
    I have a question: Do you think by Mr. Nurmi asking that the lesser charges be added that he thinks, if the jury feels they have nothing else to choose from, that they will feel obligated to choose from SOMETHING because Jodi admits to the killing in self defense? I don’t understand why he would want “crime of passion” on there as it contradicts self defense…I think (?)… I didn’t have time to read through the morning thread…perhaps my question was answered already.

    • Al said something about that the lesser included charges are always put on the table during a death penalty trial via a Supreme court ruling.

      But yea, at least the jury will have more options to choose from.

  38. I posted a comment under dissecting the photographs early this morning and a couple people responded, but going to post about it again here in case that doesn’t get checked again. Martinez mentioned her wearing a camera strap in opening statements, and I asked if a camera strap was ever found. Someone wrote back that it was still in the box. Was this ever confirmed in trial? I missed some of the early testimony. That’s pretty significant for Jodi if it was.

    • Hi Ashley yes it was confirmed in the first couple of days of trial that the camera strap was still in the box unwrapped.

    • I recall a picture of the camera box which was on the floor beside the chair in his bedroom which shows the strap I believe. I am quite sure I saw this as part of the evidence, but not sure what witness. I will check some old testimony.

  42. I am not fond of most short men, Juan reminds me of my neighbour , he is a short little man too. They both cause me to feel anxious. I came home one day to find our fence moved off the property line. The police and city won’t do anything. It has been two years of ongoing intimidation , harrasment and noise.
    I hope that for Jodi’s sake she gets justice .

  145. I can say that I’ve returned things to the automotive department, for an exchange of something, that they just let me go get what I wanted. That is where they sell the gas cans, at our store. As long as it was the same price or similar. Maybe our Walmart here is more lax, but on several occasions, I never had to sign anything, I just traded. That being said everything the medical examiner said can be called in to question . seriously watch the documentary. and it is put out by PBS so it is from a very credible source. Everyone of these jurors have shopped at walmart and know you can get cash back if you purchase stuff on a debt . Since we’ve all heard of gas stations getting fined not being set correctly as to allow the owners to skim a little extra out of the customer I don’t see a problem with JA’s gas purchases. Now if it showed 30+ gallons that might be something…but not 25.

    On cross examination, the government has asked her number of questions regarding gas cans. This could be fruitful to the government’s allegation of premeditation, but the prosecution has not closed the loop on this point.

    In particular, my assumption is that there trying to prove Ms. Arias used gas cans to avoid being seen in Arizona at a gas station by either a witness or cameras. That, if true, would show planning of at least something. So why then didn’t Mr. Prosecutor flat out ask Mr. Arias if that was her intent? Instead, he avoided asking her that question because of one thing: fear. Mr. Prosecutor is afraid she will have an answer for the question and the jury will believe her. So he is instead doing what trial lawyers have been trained to do, save the ultimate question for closing argument when the other side has no chance to contradict your argument.

    Under all circumstances, such a approach is cowardly and craven. In the particular circumstance of this one in which a prosecutor’s job is not to win per se but act as a “minister of justice”, it is downright evil. When someone, anyone, as in Jodi Arias, is on trial for her life, she should be given every opportunity to directly answer all the government’s accusations in her own voice directly to the prosecutor’s face. It should then be up the jury to decide who to believe with all the facts before them. The jury should not be in the unfortunate position of deciding the fate of a person, as they are in
    now, without all the facts before them because the prosecutor was too afraid to ask the defendant the ultimate question.

    But assume for the sake of argument she was asked that question and did not have a good answer for it. What was she planning? Was she planning on killing him since the moment she asked to borrow the gas cans in May, or since she left for her trip from California? If she was planning on killing him before she left on her trip, then why did
    she stay with him for 8 hours and have sex with him on the same day? Does that really sound like a plan on murdering Travis Alexander? I don’t know, and even more more importantly, the government cannot answer these questions without speculation or
    guess work. The guesses may be reasonable and even probable, but that is not proof beyond a reasonable doubt, and certainly not proof enough to send Ms. Arias to death row.

    • The fact that she bought gas for cans in UT confirms her concern of running out of gas. If she only had them to pass through AZ without getting gas gets contradicted here.

      Plus she could have easily paid cash at any gas station without detection. They can’t check 1000 video cameras, which may or may not have even captured her.

          I have no problem with martial arts, or studying fighting styles. There’s a lot to be said about skill, poise, accuracy, culture, ect.

          But television shows that exist for the sole purpose of seeing one person brutalize another person are not something I would throw a party about.

    He treated Deanna different because :

She said Deanna came in w/o knocking, went up to TA’s bedroom locked herself in there for a while, then Jodi said when Deanna came out of the bedroom Deanna went to the office and closed the door behind her and was in there for a while…Jodi said Deanna said she came over to “look for a book” but left empty handed. Deanna also refused Jodi’s offer of a freshly baked cookie.Jodi stated that when Travis was picking up the dog (Deanna was sitting for the dog while TA and Jodi went on one of their trips together) at Deanna’s house he had Jodi get out at a 7-11 while he did so. He said Deanna would cause trouble if she saw Jodi in the car.

If she bought a 3rd gas can at ANY TIME during her trip east or west it doesn’t matter, but it matters if she didn’t tell the truth about it. BUT…she could have bought a 3rd gas can after the trauma when she was in that dissociative state and not remember doing it I suppose.

    Someone on the site said their Ford could hold 18 gallons if it was really empty. But I thought it was established that the Ford Focus she rented only held 12.5 gallons.

The other thing is that when Jodi was testifying, she said she bought that 3rd can and returned it to the same Walmart the same day. The defense having no questions for the Walmart employee didn’t help matters IMHO. The Tesero employee didn”t get any juror questions, so I am not quite sure what the jury is thinking of those 2 witnesses.

She let him be his self without judgement even after she caught him ….you know , with the pics and they did all his fantasies and was everything a girlfriend should be in public and when he saw he had finally pushed to far and she started to move on and proved it by not caring about Mimi going on the cancun trip and by planning a trip of her own. I think Jodi is telling the truth about travis flipping out , but i think it was because he was furious about Ryan. Did he EVER get pissed if the other 2 talked to some one? NO. Did he ever try to get back with either of them after He and Jodi broke up? NO HE ALWAYS WENT TO JODI!! so Deanna is being honest . just look at the evidence and just your own experience in life and relationships. your thoughts?

      I agree with you but Travis did not Love Jodie he used her and she allowed it. She said she felt like a piece of used toilet paper. I think Travis derived pleasure from hurting woman and had sexuality issues.
      That is why he preyed on naive gullible woman. he was a sadist.

    • When you don’t know the answer to a question, it better not to ask it. I’m almost positive Jodi’s testimony was she returned it to the same location she purchase it. So I think they need to downplay it…don’t made a big deal about it.

    • I don’t think it looks bad. I think it was a way to convey to the jury that this witness/testimony is so irrelevant that we won’t bother with any questions. That’s how I took it, at least.

    I think that’s probably it – she bought a third gas can at Mesquite…. or at any rate after leaving Mesa.

    I could be well wrong, but it’s hilarious if true.

  371. IMHO, the testimony of Deanna was a waste of time. Nothing against her personally, she seems like a nice woman, it just seemed irrelevant. I know what JM was trying to do, show the jury that TA was not an abusive boyfriend, that he was just a regular guy who didn’t yell, scream, call names, hit, etc etc. So her is his ex, form many years ago, saying he was not mean. It really doesn’t mean alot, if I were a juror, at least. Reason would be, just because he was kind to her, doesn’t mean he was with Jodi. There isn’t always a pattern of abuse for each and every relationship….there can be, but it isn’t written in stone. Also, this was not a sexual relationship as there was with Jodi, and that can change things immensely. The PPL witness means very little IMO, just talking about TA and Jodi being affectionate in public at PPL events, which doesn’t say much, she herself didn’t deny going to events with him. So we have a few instances of them in public..and?? The point she made about being “hidden” was after the break-up, not while they were an official couple. The witness used the word “underground”, and thats perfect.

    The other 2 witnesses, Walmart and Teseoro, were, IMO a problem for the defense. Nurmi didn’t even cross Walmart, as there is nothing to ask. Tesoro is bad, it shows all those purchases that morning were, in fact, gasoline. Remember we were all talking a few weeks ago about how 1 purchase inside could be snacks, drinks, etc, but now we know it isn’t. And no juror questions for the Tesoro witness either. I have no idea why Nurmi decided to ask her about a cash purchase, when all 3 were credit card, but he did. Maybe he was trying to confuse the jury, I don’t know. But it was an odd question, and then she said they were all 3 credit and that was it. So, IMHO, 2 witnesses that were irrelevant, and 2 that were not good for the defense.

    • Yep. you can definitely get a cash return without a receipt. The barcode on the tag or on the product helps them find the price.

      And I loved that juror’s question! I actually think it was okay for them not to ask the Wal-mart rep any questions. It’s like they’re saying to the jury that the whole thing about the gas cans is not a big deal. It does not prove premeditation.

Also, if they did any forensics on whether the virus was DELIBERATELY set lose on that computer to wipe or make unrecoverable certain things (this would have been done in the interim 5 ‘GLORIOUS’ days when people had FULL access to the crime scene, the body, and ALL the evidence with which to manipulate). Had to spit it all out!

  389. I don’t see the point in Deanna’s testimony. Maybe someone else can help me understand how her testimony absolves Travis of the things he said and did in text and in the phone sex tape. Those were his words, his five hour raging communications. So *what* if he didn’t get angry at Deanna? That’s providing that Deanna is even telling the truth. Remember there are plenty of other women who are NOT coming forward out of fear.

    • I don’t think he was nice to Deanna. She supposedly broke off with him but he kept her around, cried, etc, and she stayed. Did not marry or date? She was nice to him. But what did he ever do for her?

        As far as the gas station is concerned, if they don’t have a video of Jodi filling up three gas cans then all we have is the assumption from Juan that is what she did.

        In fact I’m surprised that they did not enter into evidence a video of Jodi doing exactly that. Don’t most gas stations have cameras on each pump in case someone drives away without paying?

  391. Facebook and Myspace history should be found on that computerter, if not then there was a secondary Computer which was most likely in his car which was conveniently “not” searched.

  392. Did he check deleted files. Many files that were ‘deleted’ would in all likelihood still be on the computer hard drive and could be accessed by various file recovery programs. Deleted files are just flagged as ‘unreadable’ but they are still there unless overridden by new data or because of hard drive format of a special type.
