    • little, tiny pink eraser 🙂 and the way she ‘tidied’ the desk, carefully placing it next to her pencil.

  1. Do you think Samuels guts roll each time he has to go back up there? Mine would be.

  2. Okay the 20 flowers took place after the death. How does this have anything to do with the charged premeditation?

    Anybody else?

    • It is JM trying to confuse the jury, once again. Now he’s yelling so that he can testify while confusing the issues.

    • Jodie
He is trying to establish that she consciously lied and therefor she was not trying to avoid thinking about the Killing of Travis, The Flowers seemed to be a problem with the Jury, from questions they asked. It is sought of Creepy I must admit. But Martinez is so erratic that his questioning is disjointed. I heard one Of the Jurors yawned quit openly without covering their mouth when Martinez brought up the Book Of Mormon. it was a very Big Yawn according to observer,

      • FWIW, back when I first started following this case at the beginning of this year, when I learned about the irises and the memorial to TA that JA posted on her Myspace, etc…. I felt that I could imagine myself doing those same sorts of things if I had talked myself into believing it hadn’t happened the way that it did, and that going through such an ordeal (killing someone, esp. someone I thought I knew and loved) would definitely be so horrific it would be almost impossible for me to wrap my mind around. I felt the same way about her behavior with Ryan Burns. It actually made some sort of “sense” to me, that she was behaving as if she hadn’t killed him in an almost desperate fashion to try to MAKE it TRUE that she hadn’t killed him. When JM tried to incriminate Jodi by questioning the Dr Samuels about the behaviors I think he actually may have helped the defense more than the prosecution. I sure HOPE so, at any rate!

    • She has this look like I got this one. It may not even have to do with Samuels but may be the State’s witness.

      OMG here he goes again.

  3. LMAO!!! It also doesn’t say….Absolutely no thoughts whatsoever!! LOLOLOLOL!! Good one! 😉

  4. ΟΚ,Martinez let’s debunk every psychology term and just use your word of preference:”lie”
That will make all psychologists out there respect you.

    • I actually read another forum where a psychologist (at least according to his profile) started bashing the posters because they were doing as Martinez; bashing psychology. He reminded them that he was really disrespecting the entire community of mental health professionals and that THEY were not the ones on trial. lol

      • ha! Cool!
(i.e that someone out there is calling them out on their delusions of Juan being such a “hero.” There are some out there so bloodthirsty, though, that they will never “get” it, i am afraid…)

  5. Oh my gosh, I posted earlier as a joke that he should just say

You fell in love with JA…right?
You changed your report so you could ride off into the sunset some day with JA…right?

This should be an immediate mistrial and prosecutorial misconduct. You cannot unring that bell. Can you say appeal.

  6. “I BEG YOUR PARDON, SIR!” Woot!….I was waiting for that! Good on you Dr. Samuels. 🙂

  7. I was just yelled at on twitter that JM’s expert will have quote “4 yrs of FRESH and current experience and education. yep.”
    LMAO

    • doesnt surprise me in the least…the haters will find any way to twist anything around. Now they can call inexperience ”fresh current experience” lmao!

      • Doesn’t surprise me, either, maria, for exactly the reason you state. Their puny little minds were decided long before they ever heard any real evidence, and they are completely resistant to considering anything that proves otherwise. It’s almost wacky how creative they can be in thinking up ways to twist data to support their pre-concceived notions…

  8. OMG no admonition to the jury that they are to disregard.

Thoughts from the legal eagles on here?

  9. I certainly hope JM plans on treating his psychologist this way if he has one on rebuttle (sp)……Gee whiz!

    • I watched two movies this past weekend that included trials. In both of them the prosecuting attorney used “Isn’t it true…” more than once. I thought I was having flashbacks.

  10. If I were on that jury, I would vote NOT GUILTY on all counts simply because JM is such an abomination! He must be disgusting more than one juror!

    • Love how JM then changed the subject and did not follow through with the question after that comment. lol

  11. OMG – he just threw his pen! WTF is going here in this courtroom!! Get with it you damn incompetent Judge!

  12. Did Martinez just throw away hispen as a sign of indignation??How childish…Or should I say(once again)how skillful an actor he is…

            • (off topic:is this your cat?I love it!Looks like a true witch’s cat!LOL,that’s how I lovingly call black cats)

              • oh, maria! Thank you for noticing my kitty. Yes, he is all black EXCEPT for on the very bottoms of his two hind paws, where he has a little dab of long white hair between his toe pads and the main little footpad on each of these feet. My very best friend (since first grade) gave me a black kitten that I named India (as in India Ink, which is a black dye we used to use in microbiology lab to view some yeast cells in infected CSF slides). India was a little trollop and managed to get herself knocked up before I got her fixed. I was so excited wondering what all the kittens would look like….she had five of them and every single one was black. I had to use different colored terrycloth ponytail holders as collars for them to be able to tell them apart when they were tiny. The tomcat in my gravatar is the kitten I kept from the litter and was lucky enough to find good homes for the other four. India is gone, but I have another tommycat that is pure white and is a Persian. I do not consider myself a witch, but I am sure some people might disagree, at times, and it IS true that I have two different colored eyes, one blue and one brown, and it has been brought to my attention that some people believe “odd-eyes” are a trait of witches.
All I know is it’s a good thing for Martinez that I do not have the power to hex him…;)

                • I’m a cat lover myself.I have 5 cats and 4 kittens! One of them is totally black with yellow eyes(I call him my witch’s cat)and another one who’s black with a white tummy(and just one eye, born that way 🙁 )

                • maria, have you read the book “Homer’s Odyssey” by Gwen Cooper? If not, I highly recommend it – about the experiences of a woman who adopted an eyeless cat.

                • Marie – here is book summary for you – a must read:
                  Overview
ONCE IN NINE LIVES, SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY HAPPENS.

The last thing Gwen Cooper wanted was another cat. She already had two, not to mention a phenomenally underpaying job and a recently broken heart. Then Gwen’s veterinarian called with a story about a three-week-old eyeless kitten who’d been abandoned. It was love at first sight.

Everyone warned that Homer would always be an “underachiever.” But the kitten nobody believed in quickly grew into a three-pound dynamo with a giant heart who eagerly made friends with every human who crossed his path. Homer scaled seven-foot bookcases with ease, survived being trapped alone for days after 9/11 in an apartment near the World Trade Center, and even saved Gwen’s life when he chased off an intruder who broke into their home in the middle of the night. But it was Homer’s unswerving loyalty, his infinite capacity for love, and his joy in the face of all obstacles that transformed Gwen’s life. And by the time she met the man she would marry, she realized that Homer had taught her the most valuable lesson of all: Love isn’t something you see with your eyes.

                • No,I havent read that book.Wow,sounds extremely interesting. Will add it to my must read list, for sure!!!Thanx for the recommendation Sable!!

                • The book sounds great.
Cat lovers tend to be very compassionate.
Not surprising that there are many here…\\
I never thought I ‘liked’ cats. Now I have 5.

  13. JM is close to opening the door to the different types of killings when talking about the different types and levels of trauma.

  14. JM needs to cut out the crap. He is going around and around and around like a dog chasing its tail.

It is absolutely pointless to keep revisiting the same crap over and over and over.

I know he is trying to trip Dr. Samuels, but it ain’t working.

At this rate, the doctor will be on the stand well into April.

    • I may be wrong . but based on the jurors questions — I think we are getting close to the end of the Samuels testimony.

  15. Michael Keifer from twitter said this is now going into a cross examination instead of clarification of the juror’s questions. WHY is the judge allowing this crap to go on?

      • annieP: he is a reporter from arizona that is tweeting from inside the courtroom. He is very fair and gives out great info.

        @MichaelBkiefer

    • You know, I completely forgot this WAS juror questions…. I was thinking this entire time it was cross. And, once again, the conspiracy between judge and prosecutor continues.

    • I agree, Trixels. This is now going into a cross examination instead of a clarification of the jury’s questions. Too bad, too, that this judge is not helping matters by allowing this trial to proceed as badly as it is.

  16. Flogging a dead horse (alternatively beating a dead horse, or beating a dead dog in some parts of the Anglophone world) is an idiom that means a particular request or line of conversation is already foreclosed or otherwise resolved, and any attempt to continue it is futile; or that to continue in any endeavour (physical, mental, etc.) is a waste of time as the outcome is already decided.

  17. The judge finally sustained and admonished the jury to disregard something?

Oh no, lets get out the Webster dictionary and look up responsibility.

    • Now talking about the military?? Boy, this is really getting out of fricking control.

      • Is he that stupid to think PTSD doesn’t happen outside of military personnel in combat and police officers?

After all, Jodi killed somebody–why wouldn’t she have it?

        What an idiot.

      • And Samuels said he doesn’t have experience with the miliary. That would be outside of his expertise.

  18. He’s clearly abusing his job as prosecutor, and the judge, who is inexperienced on death penalty cases, is allowing him to get away with it.

    • The psychological explanations of Dr S, fly right over the head of the moralistic mindscape of the pinhead JM
The best explanation of judge stephens evidentiary rulings, without any knowledge that she’s partisan prosecutors judge, is that she’s seriously out of her depth in being able to conduct a fair trial.
She’s let JM to run amok, yelling at Dr S, badgering him, cutting off his answers

a question to anyone with knowledge on law of evidence about asking an expert witness, such as Dr S, spurious and highly prejudicial hypotheticals ?
JM did this quite a bit.

  19. How many times is he going to say I understand. He clearly doesn’t understand what he is even doing up there.

  20. Juan is basically attacking the credibility of psychology. How does he plan on putting his psychologist on the stand and not look like an idiot?

  21. “I’m assuming your a man of your word”!!!! Caught JM lying or should I say trying a futile lawyer tactic….. The Dr saw right through his lie.

  22. Well he just brought up the anger in texts from TA. Maybe this opened the door for TA’s letters.

    • I don’t get this either…it’s Travis’ text not Jodi’s. It’s his words not hers.

  23. ABC News: “Jodi Arias Prosecutor Like a ‘Rabid Dog,’ Legal Critic Says”
Phoenix New Times; “The Jodi Arias trial took another turn for the nutty today with a “meltdown” by prosecutor Juan Martinez and, to some extent, the justice system.”

So even some mainstream do see the light – JM is a frigging nut job.

    • Maybe he should contact Dr. Samuels after the trial for therapy for his extreme generalized anxiety disorder.

      • I saw that on that stupid After Dark show on HLN their topic is going to be how Jodi used to beat her mother…yes, not hit her once but BEAT her!

        • I saw a couple of minute of Nancy Grace. She played part of “newly discovered” interrogation where Jodi says she one time kicked her dog and she felt really bad about that. In the 10 minutes I had it on, Grace played the loop about 6 times!

  24. I can’t believe how long he has had this doctor on and how juvenile he has acted. The only thing he has proved is that his own evidence is weak and he is trying to divert from that.

  25. I do not know HOW Dr. Samuels manages to retain his polite demeanor and calm mood in the face of JM’s interrogation tactics. I so admire his self-control.

    • You are so right….”Sir, I beg your pardon” when accused of having feelings for Jodi… He doesn’t let JM control his emotions. Future witnesses could learn a little on how to deal with JMs questions. Notice how the angrier JM gets , the worse his grammar becomes.

    • LOL. Good one Trixels!
Before the break I caught myself wishing someone could take a needle and suture string to sew that big ugly hole in his face SHUT I was so disgusted with that sewage…

  26. Martinez along with his puppet, Judge Oblivious Stephens are making a mockery of this trial.

  27. Jennifer Wilmott and Jodi could be mother and daughter or Aunt and Niece.
    and on and separate topic
How fed up must the jury be by now?

  28. Between all of the “approach please” moments and watching Dr Samuels read…I feel like I’m being made to watch paint dry!

  29. What are the actual numbers of sustained vs over-ruled objections in this case? Bet it’s ridiculously slanted in favor of the prosecution.

    • AT OLIVIERO: omg that is soooo funny! It might just happen Mtz having a meltdown infront of everyone. I’m sure dr. Samuels has already diagnose him hahahaha

        • I think a lot of guys have tried to be an Al Pacino at one point in their lives hahaha either Tony Montana from Scarface or the laywer in And Justice for All…..:-P

  30. Can someone, ANYONE, please tell me what in the world Martinez is trying to accomplish with this line of questioning?

  31. again:

Flogging a dead horse (alternatively beating a dead horse, or beating a dead dog in some parts of the Anglophone world) is an idiom that means a particular request or line of conversation is already foreclosed or otherwise resolved, and any attempt to continue it is futile; or that to continue in any endeavour (physical, mental, etc.) is a waste of time as the outcome is already decided.

  32. At first I thought allowing the jury to ask questions was a good idea. After seeing the system at work, it most certainly is not a good idea. At least not in it’s current form.
No more questions by the jury please.

    • I agree I thought it seemed like a good idea but it just goes on forever. There must be a reason they only have this in 3 states.

    • Since it’s the jurors that have to make the final decision, I feel better knowing ALL of their questions are answered. I may not like the direction some of the questions indicate they are leaning but I certainly don’t want them making such a major decision if they have any questions in their minds.

  33. Please let this be over for Samuels! He deserves a medal for putting up with the crap he endured.

  34. I think Juan and Sherry are spending romantic weekends together practicing being a dildo and a 3 hole wonder.

  35. Martinez is trying to discredit the Doctor but he is failing because he is making it obvious that he is trying to discredit Psychiatry In My Opinion

  36. I’m curious as to what motions may be filed today. I’m sure at sidebar they asked for a mistrial when JM completely lost all touch with reality in front of the jury.

  37. Oh my, JM can say lets assume and JW can’t bring in what was in the letters to her family that JM brought up during XE.

This is a travesty. Surprise, surprise….objection, sustained, and jury told to disregard.

  38. my feed went down and now that it’s back on it’s minutes earlier.wtf?anuone else’s?

  39. What is he going to voir dire the witness now that JW was going to show that JM is full of shit. How can this be?

  40. JM had to say “objection, improper impeachment”

Yes, JW is impeaching your unprofessional ASS

  41. The psychological explanations of Dr S, fly right over the head of the moralistic mindscape of the pinhead JM

  42. Is there anybody from AZ that can file a motion on behalf of JA against JM. There is a way to do it, but you have to be from AZ.

    • No-one can file a motion on her behalf – even if they are in AZ. She has a lawyer – so they are the only ones who can speak (legal motions etc ) in regard to this case on her behalf.
Not to mention the legal issues with filing a motion on someones behalf with out some type of legal right to do so. (such as power of attorney)

  43. Okay now we are on to animals and carcasses. Some animals leave, some stay and eat the carcass. JM has lost his f**king mind, his case, and hopefully his license.

    • I thought it was funny when Martinez was trying to get him to say animals leave after the fight, and Doctor S said no, some stay to eat the carcass. lol Even JW smiled on that one

    • JM’s trying to suggest, with his bizarre animal analogy that if someone attacks you, you’re only allowed to shoot one bullet into your potential killer
      limit of one bullet
JM that’s not the law of self defense
      http://www.azleg.gov/arizonarevisedstatutes.asp?title=13
Read sections 13-404 and 13-405 together.
I suspect this may be the sections relied upon, although i am not sure.
      13-404. Justification; self-defense
      A. Except as provided in subsection B of this section, a person is justified in threatening or using physical force against another when and to the extent a reasonable person would believe that physical force is immediately necessary to protect himself against the other’s use or attempted use of unlawful physical force.

13-405. Justification; use of deadly physical force
      A. A person is justified in threatening or using deadly physical force against another:
      1. If such person would be justified in threatening or using physical force against the other under section 13-404, and
      2. When and to the degree a reasonable person would believe that deadly physical force is immediately necessary to protect himself against the other’s use or attempted use of unlawful deadly physical force.
      B. A person has no duty to retreat before threatening or using deadly physical force pursuant to this section if the person is in a place where the person may legally be and is not engaged in an unlawful act.

      • I think what he is trying to do is cover his bases for felony murder. That’s that fuzzy area … self defense ends when you are no longer threatened , thus the felony murder.. It’s more complicated that that of course.

the .” extent a reasonable person would believe that physical force is immediately necessary ” loophole.

  44. What the heck is going on? I can’t wait to get home and watch this day. This sounds crazy- what is this judge doing and how is this allowed to go on?

  45. so JM just brought up that not only did Travis call Jody a three hole wounder but also a dildo with a heart beat, what a nice guy he was, i hop[e the jury sees him for what he was, a woman hater that just wants kinky sex

      • I always wanted to know the context of that statement though. I can totally see TA saying that in order to guilt her into coming to see him….

        • Hmm, great concern and observation BeeCee.
I completely agree too, abusers are great at laying on the guilt, helps them get what they want.
          Goes along with manipulation really.

  46. Does anyone know the rebuttal witness list? The way jm was talking is he going to have all those ppl fools that make up a different story everyday on it?

  47. I thought the ‘afternoon recess’ was supposed to end and have them back at 3:10… what is the real time trial is to start again?

  48. THE BULLET (yes, I’m still talking about the bullet taken from Travis)
I found this comment on Blinkoncrime.com this morning.
Other people are wondering about the bullet, too. We are not alone any more.

    ” whodunit says:
    March 20, 2013 at 11:33 pm

    2. Does anyone know if they retrieved the bullet from Travis gunshot wound. And if so, is it possible to discern after the fact if a hollow point bullet was used – does the bullet lose its definition upon entering the target, making it impossible to know if it was hollow point in the first place? The report of the theft at Arias’ grandparents house stated that the .25 caliber gun was loaded and contained hollow point bullets.

It was retrieved and taken into evidence- casing located on bathroom floor as we know. I doubt very much it was a hollow point as Dr. Horne testified he could not discern a projectile path and it was lodged in the upper left maxilla, intact. By it’s nature, a hollow point is designed to “mushroom” on impact- no evidence of that I am aware of.

    B”

  49. **OFF TOPIC**

Love, love, love Jennifer Willmott’s shoes! Adorable! If anyone happened to catch a glimpse of them! =)

  50. I have very quickly come to hate juror questions. Shouldn’t the judge deem what is and isn’t appropriate? She seems to ask whatever they write down foolish question or not. Not cool.

    • At least one is leaning in favor of understanding the nature of therapy, which is good for Jodi. (See my reasoning below…)

  51. I thought the first few juror questions were good. One example is; “do you have books that you allow clients to borrow for free, in your office?” As a health practitioner – I see a lot of therapists/practitioners do that and clients recognize this. They appreciate the availability and they also recognize one as a “compassionate” person who is honestly trying to help as opposed to just trying to make a buck. I think whomever asked that has experience with therapy (doesn’t matter what kind and I say this due to this specific question; would not usually come from someone unless you have been in an office and know of the common practice of giving out free books) and JM could have very well insulted this person.

    • That question actually kind of worried me because it suggested a therapy situation rather than an evaluation situation.

      • I don’t think it is a suggestion of therapy rather than impartial evaluation. I think that juror was actually trying to clarify whether this was normal practice for the doctor or not. I’ve had an evaluation (but not forensic) and a book was recommended to me. I was also given hand outs.

  52. Does this mean JM gets to “cross examine” him again??? I don’t know if I can take it!

  53. Somehow all of Kermit’s Objections ”beyond the scope” are sustained!

  54. oh no…. This juror has just given Martinez another reason to go on and on about the book.

  55. Okay – that is messed up – saying “do not allow him to yell at witness” is not a speaking objection.

  56. Oh no the gift of the book.

    Objection beyond scope……overruled
    Objection argumentative…..overruled

Can you please ask the prosecutor to not yell at the witness. Please tell “her” to not have a speaking objection.

  57. JM has nothing – you can tell every freakin’ time because he yells and demands ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answers as well as ‘did I ask you?’ Please stop him!

    • i wish there was a mute button on his mouth! And how is confusing the name/address of a jail a good reason to yell at a witness??

      • Let’s keep in mind that Kermit once told a defendant in another trial that he was wrong about when his own wife’s birthday was. And KERMIT turned out to be wrong. Yes, people do make mistakes, but it’s only OK when it’s him.

    • do you know what the questions were aside from the book question and media question, and the question about defense mechanisms? Any in Jodi’s favor?

      • If he keeps saying inturders does that open the door for the defence to explain that their could be a possibility according to the flores report and the time line of events that follow

  58. I think I read somewhere that the judge and Martinez worked together at one time. It was not something I felt I needed to save. Now, I am kicking myself. Even if they did, it would not help Jodi but someone might pick it up and mention it. Sorry to say but I have not doubt that a few of these jurors have been on the Internet or have discussed something with someone. They should have been sequestered.

    • In most jurisdictions, the lawyers both defense/prosecution have generally been in any and/or all of the judges courts or even worked with them or for them during their career.

Not giving any props to this judge by my statement, because she is in way over her head.

    • If one of them is asking about Dr S being online or watching media coverage, IMO that means they are worried he is coming across something. I just don’t see the point of the question otherwise.

  59. “You said the DURANGO JAIL!”

“I meant the Estrella Jail on Durango Street.”

    “But you said DURANGO JAIL….”

Is he kidding with this shit?

    • There can’t be one juror that didn’t shake their head on that question.

Like someone said earlier, Kermit has to have the last word. I will add to that even at the detriment of his case.

  60. Now JM’s trying to impeach him b/c he thinks giving someone a book is treatment – AGAIN. There’s that ‘beating a dead horse’ thing again.

  61. Oh goodness..Bottom line JM is: you are NASTY, trying to catch the Dr with playing around with, and twisting the Dr’s words.
    THIS COULD GO ON FOREVER!

  62. ” I know you wnat to say that but…” But your not saying what I want you to say!

  63. Poor Dr. Samuels. I bet he needs a drink or ten. I hope he does some interviews and diagnoses Kermit.

    • I wonder if Samuels can make a complaint about Martinez’s unprofessional behavior. Anyone know?

    • I wouldn’t be surprised if the good doctor decided to stop practicing forensic psychology at this point in time. Maybe he’ll just consult from now on.

  64. Does anybody know why they named the jail Estrella? Is there a particular reason?Off topic, just curious 🙂

    • Yeah, he is going to rip the domestic violence counselor – wouldn’t that be neat, LOL!! Can’t wait to see how she handles Martinez since he does counseling with domestic violence abusers.

      • Wouldn’t that be great if she called him out on his violent rage and assholeness! lol!

    • You bet he will. She’s tough and she’s done this a LOT and dealt with abusive men. She’s going to see what JM is right off the bat.

  65. I’ve been posting on the Morning Session page this entire time… Good grief! Help me, y’all… Travistown’s stupidity is starting to rub off on me!

    • you’re just harming yourself. It’s no use trying to instill some sense of logic.

      • I meant the Morning Session page here, lovely Maria; no way in Hell I’d be able to keep my cool around those closed-minded idiots! 😉

    • AshleySC83,

I appreciate what you are doing – however I have done that numerous times. You will only ‘reach’ one or two people who “hear” what you are saying. The majority are on the hate-wagon and do not listen. They use name calling, bashing and threats. It available – they will pm you or email you trying to convince you that Jodi is a liar and do not believe anything by the defense – no matter what. These are the times we live in. Domestic violence, sexual deviancy, pedophilia – all acceptable. Killing the abuser; unacceptable. The victim is expected to walk away and if the victim takes retaliation he or she better be completely honest and explain why they stayed with the abuser and be willing to die for staying alive.

If you attempt to tell them there is evidence of abuse, evidence of sexual deviancy, no evidence of Jodi stalking or slashing tires – but evidence of her abuser stalker her across the states – you will be vilified. All I’m saying it be careful as I feel ‘those’ people are themselves abusers/enablers and violent (just look at their posts for proof).

  66. Any psychologists here read body language?…JM marching and pacing around with his arms tightly crossed over his chest?

  67. Martinez said, “Do you remember when I said… I mean, when the Prosecutor said…” What a self-centered little asshole! t(-_-t)

  68. God,I hope she didn’t spell something wrong on her report. We’ll here about it for a week.

  69. I’m already loving this lady. She is going to body slam Martinez’s little punk ass when he tries to bully her. I may tinkle.

  70. This woman is used to working with abusive men….she’ll have no problem handling Kermit’s outbursts.

  71. This Dr. is going to be an excellent witness for the defense. The jury is going to like her and the Little Troll will have to tread lightly with her. If he stays in bully mode he’s going to piss off the jury. She knows her stuff.

  72. Martinez is already figuring up the years she has been a professional so he can throw it back into her face later

  73. Oh God… She just said “I had to sit for Orals” (regarding education)… Bet that perked Martinez RIGHT up! Bets on how many times Martinez will now say “oral” and “orals” on Cross? 😉

    • How can they call her a man hater when she does groups for men because she wants them to succeed? How stupid. If she were a man hater she wouldn’t counsel men…duh.

    • Abusers ALWAYS call those who help or work with victims of DV man-haters. That’s their MO. (I know this from personal experience.)

      • That’s the exact impression I get. Many, in fact, do not see any of the rape, abuse or pedo-leaning comments to be a problem at all. According to the pro-TA commenters, that is acceptable behavior and those who think it is wrong – well they have the problem. (Again, learned through therapy that is behavior typical of an abuser grooming his victim or of an enabler.)

        • I think a lot of the women who hate Jodi could be enablers of their husbands/boyfriends, for ex, the guy cheats on them & instead of blaming him they blame the woman he was with. Now with this trial, they are taking all their angry out on Jodi because she is attractive, is a ‘safe’ target and an easy scapegoat.

    • She’s going over her CV by memory. It’s not easy to do. For example, off the top of your head and in detail cite what you’ve done, where you have worked, etc., since 1978.

Samuels needed to look at his paperwork.

      • I agree Joe. It took her a few minutes to find her stride but she did and I think she’ll be even better tomorrow.

    • She has a lot of experience, tho. She has not mentioned a PhD, she has an MA in community clinical psychology.

  74. Ohhh – asked if she had ever been frightened! and Martinez objects! Now why in the world would he have done that?

  75. Worked group therapy for abusive men with a male colleague so the men would see what an appropriate and healthy relationship is supposed to be like… ZING, Martinez and Travistown!

    • Because he wants her to appear to be a lesbian or at least unmarried with no children so that it will appear that she either hates men or has no first hand experience in her own life of being a mother or spouse. Plays to peoples prejudices… I’m not saying that its O.K. but I think that’s a subtly he wants to exist for his purposes.

      • or to suggest that she too, along with the good doctor, has a thing for Jodi!

          • Methinks he’s the one having naughty dreams about Jodi every night so he projects that onto the defense experts.

          • I ran into my therapist is public one time….we smiled and nodded and said hello…no clandestine relationship existed. How stupid does Kermit and haters think the jury is?

      • Exactly. She has a dyke-y haircut, she lives in CA, she does groups for men, so he wants the jury to think she’s a lesbian, man-hating bitch.

        • Back in the seventies, I took a job at a hospital out of state. Being from CA it was just assumed that I had probably lived in a commune, was a child of the Haight Ashbury culture….was actually asked more than once if I was a HIPPIE! LOL It didn’t help that I had lived in San Francisco area.

I think most of today’s society has moved on from that kind of stereotyping. I HAVE always had a thing for GRANOLA. 🙂 however.

  76. So, we have someone here who’s used to dealing with angry men. This is going to be an interesting cross.

    • I know. I think this woman has seen a LOT and she’s not going to be intimidated by JM’s histrionics.

    • I was thinking the same thing. This is one time where I look forward to JM’s antics. I hope he does his usual yelling b/c another site (a so-called news article, not forum) was mentioning how he was ranting/screaming but all ended well because he ended on a quieter tone; as if that undoes all his bullying. (I mention this because I believe in the short-term memory and selective memory of the general public – some jurors may only remember the last “paragraph” of the prosecutor’s questioning and really may forget his screaming. So his yelling again will help jurors to remember his true nature.)

  77. JM’s cross today was like watching a monkey trying to screw a football. He was all over the place but just couldn’t find the right way to get the job done and ended up very frustrated in the process.

    • Willis, that’s one of the funniest damn things I’ve ever read on ANY discussion board in my whole entire life!!!

      LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!

Note to everyone: Mt. Dew Code Red burns really badly when forcefully ejected from the nose at a high speed! 😀

    • O..M…G… to Willis, that created an epic visual for me in my mind. It plays over and over like a GIF and, so far, it gets funnier each time it plays. I’m fairly certain it will be one of those things that just never gets old. Now, when I am depressed or angry and I need something to make me laugh I will no longer be trying to imagine a T-Rex trying to pick it’s nose, preferring to watch a monkey try to hump a football instead.

  78. Hi Jodi supporters, I can’t stand it anymore I had to comment today. (((screaming)))) JM is a freakin’ SMUCK!!! He is disgusting to say Dr. Samuels has prejudice feelings for JA. Hang in there Jody…you will be victorious!! I just want to thank you for this website…I read all your messages, when I’m working, I am able to catch up on the circus of LOL Kermit. Something is wrong with this Judge she has lost control of her courtroom, I agree with your comments regarding this matter. She acts as if she has feelings for JM. Ok next specialist this is going to be good….here we goooo!!

    • …I’m off today, recuperating, but my blood pressure is through the roof screaming @ the tv, objection, objection, argumentative..this SMUCK'(JM) is bullying & intimidating the witness, STOP that gremlin…does JM actually think shouting is empowering. It really exposes his insecurities, and lack of strategy to attempt to control the witness. Verbally abusing Dr. Samuels, continually validates his case is down the toilet, such an angry little troll (JM). tsk tsk

Alyce LaViolette is going to kick the troll’s azz!

        • Kermit didn’t bother me so much today (had to put a nitro under my tongue Thursday). He seemed like he was just flailing away at wind mills today and had lost it.

  79. I can tell that the haters are panicking about Ms. LaViolette because all they can do is insult her looks and say that she’s “boring.”

      • Oh yes…I just read a comment about her being a “man-hating, granola-eating lesbo.” Lovely, huh?

        • The Lesbo card, really?? How lame and short-sighted. Not to mention human rights haters.

        • I love granola.
I would find this to be a poitive.
And of course, the lesbo card – so predictable.

Simple minded people those Travisites are, no doubt.

    • They are vicious today! I stopped over during the lunch break and they were ripping on JW, KN Jodi and everyone else for looks and simply being alive I think. Pea brains!

  80. I would predict that if JM does his usual “attacking” of this witness, he will be totally shunned by the Jury.

    • He’s going to. I’m calling it right now. He’s going to go after her just as bad, if not worse, than he did the doctor. He will know she’s VERY detrimental to his case, and he will do whatever he thinks he can to discredit her.

  81. The Haters are going to be freaking out over this woman. They know she will be devastating to the prosecution.

  82. I want to see Martinez try to discredit THIS doctor’s opinion, based solely on her experience, education, and awards alone!

  83. So you help prosecutors learn how to cross examine witnesses like yourself. Doesn’t get much better. JM should have taken a class.

  84. Oh, she’s worked with prosecutors in the past too! So the haters can’t use that “paid witness for defendants only” line.

  85. Do all of Arizona’s courts operate on a 4 day week and 6 hour day? They don’t operate like that in Pennsylvania.

    • I’m in PA too, and everyone I know who’s been called for jury duty has to show up promptly each morning and stay for the full court day. None of this “see you at 10:30” business.

      • Yep…I did jury duty here in CA. Had to be there at 8:30 five days a week. 1 hr lunch, 10 min breaks and ended at 5:00….sometimes even ran over!

  86. Gosh, I had to go out at the worst time— were there any juror questions today?????

    Thanks

  87. I posted her CV on the haters site. Its amazing that not one person has commented on it but yet continue to put her down and said she almost started with what Kindergarten she went to. She didn’t even begin to name all her works/degrees/accomplishments.

    • Do they not realize that all expert witnesses give their background? Kermit’s rebuttal witnesses will too. It’s like these people have no idea how trials work.

  88. I am not sure I understand why defence team would invite this witness. She has too much voluntarism and sorry to say- I was not very impressed of her CV: shelter, volutarism, social work, etc. I hope to change my impression but when she talks it seems to raise questions in my mind about how she was able to write a book.

      • It’s harder for someone to volunteer than for someone to do something they are getting paid for. Her CV was very impressive.

        • Yes, her volunteering is very impressive, as well as working to change legislation, and working for the State Dept. She was one of the first to work with abusive men. The list is fairly extensive of why she is a great witness for defense.

      • For an employer – voluntarism touch chords on a CV.

For a high professional who prise its work and time: time is money and recognition. People are paying to hear and consult you. No one would give free advice or services. ( in my world:) if one knows its value.

        • Your sexist attitude just reeks. You denigrate somebody who is an expert on domestic violence because she has done a ton of volunteer work and is in a female-dominated field.

        • That’s insane. You don’t get into a field like psychology and domestic violence unless you want to help. But there isn’t much funding, and there certainly wasn’t when she started out. So, unless she was willing to volunteer, she wouldn’t have been able to do a thing. Obviously, she’s passionate about it.

As for being able to write a book … anyone can do that. But her book is extremely well respected.

        • Oh Yeah

Well why don’t you tell that to the following people:

          Gandhi
          Mandela
          Dr. King
          Mother Teresa
          Jesus Christ
          The Buddha
          Jimmy Carter
          Bill Gates
          Warren Buffet
          George Soros
          Bono
          Oprah
          Andrew Carnegie
All of the crew of Doctors without borders
All of the crew of Oxfam

Not everyone gives of their time to make money, you witless blubbering nincompoop.

        • I’m so frickin enraged by this I don’t even know what to say.

You need to get your head out your ass and realize that there is a whole world out there of people who actually care for people. And I bet the brilliance of their knowledge, experience and compassion would make you wither, you self serving little baboon.

    • Do you know how many abuse victims cannot afford help? She does a great service and I’d proudly read her book.

      • I hear you. She is a social worker who does good things for people but how is going to help Jodi? This is the question.

I would have preferred a high recognised, pricey expert with no voluntarism, with tons of private clients. But what do I know

          • She actually said she found out that she could earn money by using her knowledge in court- and that was underlined- big mistake. Beside that she mentions few time not having money, single parent with 2 kids and tons of voluntarism. Does it make any sense?

              • No. It is their work. But this case was turned into a sexual case. If one defines the case it could be a killing and tons of oral and anal. What a social worker- good heated does in such a case?

Well, it was better if defence would have shocked with a witness like a star from adult movies and ask her what all this oral and anal would do in the long term, what kind of pleasure would give, how is it paid in movies this kind of acts, etc.

            • I don’t get your point. You don’t like that she’s not a big-time professional with high-paying private clients, yet you think that she shouldn’t have mentioned getting paid to help with the court.

She’s a single parent with two kids…so what? Money is not the most important thing to everyone. I’m sure she earns enough to be comfortable.

              • I didn’t say that, I was saying that her volunteer work makes her a good witness, not that she shouldn’t get paid. I don’t understand why it’s only the defence witness that get asked if they are being paid or not. Nobody asked the ME or any of the other state’s witnesses if they were paid, which I’m sure they weren’t in court for free. So why are the defence experts who are paid are always insulted for it?

              • And doing volunteer work has allowed her a more well-rounded experience – working with men and women from all walks of life, rich and poor, educated and uneducated. She can relate to the jury how women without the means to seek help are particularly vulnerable to DV.

            • Your denigrating volunteer work doesn’t bode well for you.

She has a private practice and top of extensive work in the field of domestic violence.

              • Barking at the wrong tree and do not put words in my mouth. I said her exxtensive volunteer work does not suit well JA case.

JA was not beaten up by TA, they did not share a house, kids, mortgage, pets, fish in a bowl, nothing beside sex, PPL, mormon activities.

We will see the results and I might change my mind and for sure I will say my opinion. Until then- what on earth is a social worker helpful in JA case?

                • xr, domestic violence is not limited to those who share houses, kids, mortgages, pets, etc. Abuse is lot limited to being physically beaten. Domestic violence is a broad term for when partners in a relationship have a dysfunction in which one abuses the other; emotional and/or physical. Sharing a faith, a business, and sex IS a relationship. If he wanted to ‘end’ it or stop the relationship, then he should have stayed out of her business and not constantly texted her about her new relationships. She felt the need to ‘keep the peace’ with him because they both engaged in PPL. It was stated that when she showed up at one of those functions (after they were supposedly broke up) TA said he wanted to ‘hurt’ the guy she was with. This is typical abuse/control behavior. By acting out (even if only by threatening her) she will no longer date this guy out of fear. If she continues subduing abuser with sex texts, sex emails or sex in person, he will still “like me” and no longer threaten me.

You have to understand the nature of abuse before you can judge it. That is why this social worker, with extensive awards and certificates and experience, is on the stand. And I am sure there will be jurors there who will respect that she volunteered instead of only helping those in need if they could afford the bill.

          • Cindy
You are right and also the dynamics of her relationship with him he seemed to groom her like a pedophile, he was very nice, she looked up to him, thought he was better then she was, so it was sort of a Mentor type spiritual adviser, I think he played a manipulative game with her, and derived joy out of hurting her. She was damaged by this strange relationship. But no one can doubt he was an abuser .I think the unique type of relationship she had with him will be brought up. and that he took his relationship underground further destroyed her self esteem and she was treated badly by his Friends whom he lied to.When a person has a temper such as he did the fear of not knowing what to expect.

    • A lot of domestic violence work IS volunteer. That doesn’t make her less an expert.

    • Well…she does have a Masters Degree in psycho therapy…and a private practice of her own…and experience dating back to 1979…..the volunteer work is in addition to her paid job at the shelter and then her private practice.

      • Oh, but she is a “social worker.” She’s a moron because she is in a female-dominated field.

It makes me sick to my stomach to read sexist shit.

        • I am a retired SWer and I’ll tell you many of us volunteered because there are so many needs out there and not everyone has the means to pay for private therapy….volunteered to raise money for food pantries, battered women’s hot line at night, toys for tots and on and on.

Someone once said to me…how can you DO that…my answer: How can I NOT?

        • She is not a social worker, not an LCSW, not an MSW. These are good degrees/jobs, but she is a clinical MA in psychology. Not the same thing.

    • She’s a psychotherapist. They are suppose to do a certain amount of volunteer work. Volunteer work is very impressive and desired on CV. This expert, is the best any trial lawyer could get. Her CV is on this site. DId you read it?

    • Well evidently you were not alive during the era when a bloody, battered woman was told, on the curb outside her home, by the very police she called to protect her from certain death, “Don’t waste the courts time, my time and your time pressing charges. It’s not only a waste of time, it’s a God Damn waste of our taxpayers money. You got yourself into this, go on, get yourself out.” 1979 was the beginning of Laviolette’s career, the same year that this true event occurred, I was a witness to it. Alyse Laviolette may not impress YOU but this woman is a PIONEER in the advocacy for victims of domestic abuse; men, women and children. She helped change laws! She has been a voice for those who, at one time were encouraged to keep their mouths shut, those who can no longer speak, those who may someday need a voice.

  89. hi everyone…I missed most of the days testimony, will the video be posted on here. {question mark}
    Thanks, hope it was a good day for Jodi :}

  90. I’m on the “hater” sites everyday, guys. It’s the only way to get even a few of them to even consider that the truth is not being told by the state, by Flores, and that there’s something very wrong here.

Just block people at their first idiot response. It’s easy. Don’t engage in “tit for tat” …Take your/our best arguments and just post ‘em, and let ‘em go. I know that works. And it’s really all we’ve got for now.

This is important. It could be any of us one day at the mercy of a corrupt prosecutor and exploiting media.

STAND UP FOR JODI ON FACEBOOK….DON’T LET ANYONE INTIMIDATE YOU!!

    http://www.change.org/petitions/trial-by-media-is-wrong-stop-the-spin-headline-news-hln-nancy-grace-jane-velez-mitchell-jean-casarez-vinnie-politan-dr-drew

  91. So overall, how did it go today fir the defense? ?? I missed most of it, I started watching when LaViolette came up, so I missed almost all of today, did Martinez behave (yeah right) and was alot if it cleared up by mrs Wilmont? ??

    • in a nutshell: Martinez really crossed the line of being a pain in the a$$ to a real psycho with the doctor.Wilmott was ON FIRE and did a lot of damage control!

    • Oh, Martinez was as “asshole” as usual, if not more so. Oh, yeah, BTW – When Martinez was questioning Dr. Samuels this afternoon, he actually flat-out accused Dr. Samuels of having a relationship with/being in love with Jodi. In open court. In front of the jury. On live stream.

Then a few minutes later, during the same course of questions, he got pissed and threw his cup. In open court. In front of the jury. On live stream.

That about sums up 99% of the proceedings today.

      • Omg he really threw a cup??????? Wow, damn I missed that?! Ill HAVE to watch it when SJ puts it up! !! And did he really use the word “LOVE” if he was in LOVE with her??!!! Omg!!!! How disrespectful if he has a wife at home! !!!

Thank you guys for keeping me posted.

        • He didn’t use the word “love”, but he accused Dr. Samuels of having feelings for Jodi. He just really crossed the line.

  92. Here in SC, court starts at 8:00am on the dot, takes lunch from Noon-1:00pm, and is not dismissed until at least 5:00pm. We have to EARN our jury duty pay!

And speaking of Jury Duty Compensation:

“Since the early 1990’s, many states have undergone changes in the amount jurors are compensated… most notably Arizona and Oklahoma having provided an innovative “Lengthy Trial Fund” (pays up to $200/day).”

Jury Duty Per Diem Compensation Amount
“Arizona – $12/day (plus mileage as allowed state employees)… see ARS 21-221 Also see Arizona’s ‘Lengthy Trial Fund’, which provides $40-$300/day after 4th day.”

Damn, these jurors are getting a state check for their daily mileage, $12/day flat rate, and anywhere from $40-$300/day since day #5 of this trial! These jurors stand to receive one helluva payday as dragged-out as this trial is being! O_O

  93. Y’all moved pages and left me behind at some stage.

Well, did we learn anything new today?

I had a college professor who used to say, your aim must be to learn at least one new thing every day. If you can do that the day was well spent.

By that measure I think a bunch of people blew this day off.

    Comment from a Phoenix lawyer/judge

“Martinez is his own worst enemy,” Mel McDonald, a prominent Phoenix defense attorney and former judge, told ABC News. “He takes it to the point where it’s ad nauseam. You have difficulty recognizing when he’s driving the point home because he’s always angry and pushy and pacing around the courtroom. He loses the effectiveness, rather than build it up.”

“He’s like a rabid dog and believes you’ve got to go to everybody’s throat,” he said.

“Everyone who takes witness stand for defense is an enemy,” McDonald said. “He prides himself on being able to work by rarely referring to his notes, but what he’s giving up in that is that there’s so much time he wastes on stupid comments. A lot of what I’ve heard is utterly objectionable.”

  94. Mark my words if there is any dirt on this witness the “little man” will find it and use it to discredit her. It will not matter is she was in grade school or not, he will use it.

    • We are already reading this on this board. LaViolette has too much volunteer experience, which is worthless, and she is a “social worker,” which implies that she is stupid because only stupid people go into female-dominated work. I can’t believe I am reading sexist shit here.

Mark my words, JM will talk about this. In his narrow little world, the only people whose opinions count for anything are MDs, JDs, and cops.

      • Look at all of her experience, then JM is going use someone who graduated four years ago and got her entire report stolen. Love to see the cross on that sloppiness.

      • As a retired SW, who had to do many many home visits working for Child Welfare, believe me there were many times I had to be a doctor, nurse, and cop despite my lowly title.

  95. SOOO looking forward to reading what SJ writes tomorrow about Martinez’s behavior in court today! 😀

    • Me too! I love waking to the headline on this page detailing the previous day and all of the comments as well while I have my coffee.

  96. Does anyone think that with her expertise in the area of domestic abuse could bring up the fact that TA was very abused as a child? Also does it seem like JM has an intense dislike for JW? How can he object to her objections? And why can’t that judge make a decision without sidebars? Just some musings after today.

    • it was interesting that the domestic violence specialist said that most abusers were abused in childhood. May open that door.

    • I think JM is watching HLN, did you hear him ask about what that guy Aaron said on one of those shows about taking JA by the house on the day of the memorial. JM is spewing all of the lying hearsay that he can.

      • And my BIG question is … how is it being allowed in? The line of questioning regarding her mother was EXTREMELY prejudicial towards Jodi and way outside of the scope of the juror questions.

  97. That’s an interesting question. “Are you watching the media or reading web sites.” What would be the concern unless that particular juror has seen/heard something themselves?

  98. OMG @ today with JM, who the hell does he think he is that he can talk to an EXPERT witness like that??!! This is incredible!!! His conduct & questioning has to be grounds for a mistrial or something, to do that in front of the jury! WTF?? This trial is so crazy, poor Jodi, it’s turned into a circus. I feel so bad for Dr. Samuels, hopefully with all his years of experience & expertise it will be like water off a duck’s back. Good for him for standing up to JM!! I really like this DV expert, she seems like she won’t take no shit from the “lil man” either!! I really think she will help Jodi out, I hope I’m right…

    • As we start getting older, even with tons of experience in our field of expertise, we all feel like we are losing our edge. That’s what JM was working on with Samuels; try to make him feel like crap because he is getting up there. Samuels did a decent job on the stand, but he looked pretty sad when he was standing at the defense table afterwards.

      • I think he looked sad because he can see what a mess this trail is going into. JM is a world class jerk. What is the phrase – – you get more flys with honey. JM made more of a jerk of himself today. he knows it- that is why he threw the pen. He is grasping at straws at this point. He can’t stand educated, experienced folks not putting up with his crap. I can’t wait till he CEx the domestic violence expert-oh, excuse me, the “social worker”.

  99. YIPPEE, MELVIS! Friend me if you wish!

AND LET ME OFFER A CHALLENGE TO YOU GUYS HERE! SPEND A LITTLE TIME EVERY DAY STICKING UP FOR WHAT YOU’RE SAYING HERE. STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE…AND TRY AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

“HIT AND RUN” IS EXACTLY RIGHT! I HAVE MADE SEVERAL CONVERTS AND THAT FEELS GREAT!

I AM CHALLENGING YOU GUYS….HERE AND NOW!:)

    http://www.change.org/petitions/trial-by-media-is-wrong-stop-the-spin-headline-news-hln-nancy-grace-jane-velez-mitchell-jean-casarez-vinnie-politan-dr-drew

  100. The reason Jodi is smiling in her mugshot: because the person taking the picture was probably a man and she was trying to get attention! Wow, can these people really not come up with better accusations?!!

I would think that as time went by, some of the ridiculous accusations would subside, by they’ve just become worse! ! Everyone is going full blast as the trial is soon coming to an end. Its like they WANT for it to somehow reach the jury!!!

    • LC, you should read on the poll one of the hater sites is doing-It asks has premediation been proven-as of today 82% say no or not sure! And this is on a hater site. LOL

      • Wow!!! I really cant wait for that day, when the jury reads, “WE THE JURY FIND THE DEFEDANT NOT GUILTY!” I think, ill cry!!

        • So many will experience a depth of emotion they do not readily acknowledge. I await the verdict so breathlessly I feel like in a way it is all of us Travis, Jodi, victims, sinners, innocence and humanity all are on trial. I see so many friends, people, relationships and religion and in facts I much of our individual humanity being on trial. I pray for justice. I prepare for justice for all.

  101. I think JM is trying to say that suicidal ideation and suicidal tendencies are the same thing. And nobody needs a special education to know what suicide watch and solitary confinement means in our jail system.

    For heavens sakes!

  102. I have a question for the legal people here, when JW was questioning Dr. Samuels about his statement that JA could now sleep better and she was showing how it was taken out of context, why was JM objecting saying improper impreachment? Why would clarifying a statement the Dr. made be considered impeachment of the prosecution?

    • TB, I don’t know. I’m not saying that it makes no sense, just that it makes no sense to me.

    • In theory an attorney is not supposed to besmirch opposing counsel. What JW was showing that JM was being something less than candid with the jury. Impeachment of anyone in court casts a pall over their credibility. In this instance that witness would be JM and hence his objection.

He would probably have been better served leaving it alone. Any person on that jury who can walk and chew gum got it in spades.

  103. A few unchained thoughts:

Alyce Laviolette has worked with way scarier dudes than JM. She will know how to handle him.

JM has been unrelenting in his pursuit of the DP, devoid of any justification for doing so, just so that he could try this before a death certified jury, which are considered to be more likely to be willing to convict. (Apologies for tortured syntax)

At first I was happy that HLN went to this put-it-on pause thing so no testimony would be missed. I have come to realize that it was all a ploy to drag the “fresh” footage into and throughout their prime time.

    • I know, I’m so excited! I want her to rip Martinez a new asshole & send him squealing, tail tucked between his legs, back to the rock he crawled out from under.

      • I think he will go after her, but she will utilize her DV training to handle JM being kind and gentle but getting her point across.

  104. I’m out for today – “see” you all tomorrow. I just wanted everyone here to know how interesting, intelligent and fascinating it is to read all of your opinions and observations about this trial (and life in general). I truly appreciate this forum and all of you. Thanks to ALL admins for starting and keeping this page up and for monitoring and keeping it at such an intelligent level. I look forward to SJ’s post tomorrow as well as more testimony from this witness; and, of course, will pray for all to go well so that justice prevails no matter what.

    • I would say a lot has changed, …but not enough… Things are far better than in 1979…

      • I recall as a child my drunker father would come home and fight with my mother. This was in the early 70’s. The cops would tell my mom to leave him (my dad) alone, hes had a long day at work and just wanted to have a few drinks.

Unbelievable huh. I was 4-5 yrs old and hiding under the bed when this would go on.

        • Coincidently, I, too, had the same experience…more than once though. Right down to the exact words from so-called law enforcement. Very sad!

    • Thank you much for posting that. I really enjoyed reading it and have been saying the same things all along. When did people start allowing others’ opinions muffle the sound of their own inner voice?!?!!!

    • The following blog, “Lying for the Lord”, on this same link brings more insight on the trial. Well Worth reading.

  106. Stuck between a notebook that overheats and freezes and HLN bias coverage that is about to give me a stroke! Throw in what little I can actually watch is an angry screaming annoying little man… I can’t take it. I’ve got to find a way to stream it live. HLN has already hacked to pieces the new witness testimony, Nancy Grace actually talked over her while she was on the stand! How can they do that? What happened to their promise that viewer’s won’t miss a minute of the trial? Sorry 4 the rant, hoping someone else here can relate.

  107. Wow, really? Dr Violette is more decorated than a four star general, braving the front lines on the struggle right here at home to blaze trails to give women and children a safe place to survive and thrive through her work.

    And the response is…

    She’s not good looking enough
    She volunteered too much
    She’s “just a social worker”
She’s a lesbian (now how does anyone know that for sure, and who the heck cares?)
    She eats granola (see above)
She’s a “man hater” because she doesn’t believe men have a right to abuse women
    She’s “too old.”
    She’s “not fashionable enough”

And so and and so forth, ad nauseum. That’s just from what I read here…

Like a lot of women, her contribution to society is undervalued, ignored, dismissed and ridiculed as irrelevant. I’m just sitting here shaking my head. So *what* if she followed her heart and not her pocket book. I’m sure if she charged for her services, they would be bitching about that too.

  108. After watching trial day 36 Juan Martinez get on my nervous. He don’t care that he gets on anybody’s nervous never have, never will, and not right now. He is rude and crocky. I am not any attorney and don’t plan to be one but all I see is agression in Juan Martinez. He might not be too agressive but it is safe to say that he agressive enough to lose his effectiveness. I don’t know about anyone else but I will definitely give up agression for effectiveness. Most times being agress make the person ineffective. It is secure to say that this is how lawyer lose case. Well being agressive is also a weakness of Juan Martinez because it will cause him to not produce results he wanted. If he doesn’t produce the result he wants it is good for the defense team. I believe we can use that weakness of Juan Martinez. I am a stand that Juan Martinez keep and continue to lose his effective to produce the desireable result that he want. In other word proofing premeditation. I don’t care if I Mr Martinez is reading this right now! I will say it right to his face! I apologize to anyone in this forum that found these remarks unacceptable.

    • There is a very old saying Henry “you get more with honey than you do with vinegar” and that saying is very true. Mr. Martinez is using the vinegar approach and that will not bode well for him in any way shape or form. When I watched the Casey Anthony trial, I thought Jeff Ashton was bad. He is a cakewalk compared to Mr. Martinez. Mr. Martinez is injurous only to the DA, not to the trial. He could have asked his questions differently and perhaps gotten a better response than he has been getting. All he has succeeded in doing throughout the entire trial is alienating everyone and I do mean everyone who has been on the witness stand, both for the prosecution and the defense.

  109. I’m glad that Dr. Samuels is finally done testifying. I think he had enough of JM’s badgering. I could tell a big difference in his demeanor from when he first took the stand compared to his last day on stand. He just looked tired of it all. I don’t blame him. JM was extremely out of line when he accused Dr. Samuels of having feelings for Jodi. I hope the jury sees through him. I did laugh when DS replied, “I beg your pardon, sir!” I was actually sitting at my desk at work and started laughing out loud. I had to look around to make sure nobody was staring at me. 😛

I’m not sure what to think of the new witness yet, since she wasn’t on the stand very long. Hopefully she will help the defense. However, I don’t think she speaks as eloquently as Dr. Samuels did though.

    • I think she will do fine. I said to another poster that thought the same that I think it is first day jitters. For heavens sake, she deals with domestic violence abusers. she is gonna be great!

    • She does not have to speak as eloquently as anyone. The jury just has to understand what she is saying. She is here to try and make the jury understand what lead to this point. Why Jodi didn’t just stay in CA. Why Travis was like he was……and Jodi was like she was.

I only pray that some good comes out of this tragic. The circle of abuse has to stop….

  110. I just wish I could just stop Martinez’ insecurities. Such a sad little man, with a horrible job.

  111. So, already in the small amount of time Dr. Violette has spoken, she made two great points, and I dont even think it as on purpose:

    A. She found that most of the violent men she worked with came from abusive families.
    B. She volunteered at many churches because they had issues either with domestic violence or speaking about domestic violence properly.

Welll, we know of the abuse Travis spoke about from his parents. Or at the least, his mother.
And, not putting blame on any religion in particular, but Travis and Jodi were/are very religious. I think its great that churches were/are concerned about discussing domestic violence, but it seems somewhat strange in that setting, just makes me wonder whats going on.

Its just a odd coincidence that she’s alredy made these two comments.
Sounds like many signs point to Travis’ abuse.
    And its only just begun!

  112. I try so hard not to resent everyone who in my “regular” life who just passes judgement on Jodi and the case. So many uninformed judgmental little dictators running amuck. I feel overwhelmed and like I am obligated to educate people, like if I don’t I do a disservice to I resent the time, the presumption and sheer unadulterated hatred of a woman they never met nor spoke to my friend and Jodi. Why can someone like me (knowing bothTravis and Jodi) not feel like the rest of the general populace does. Why is a complete stranger to the actual people involved able to be cruel and filled with hatred? Why can they choose to believe the worst about her, be presented with unattractive facts about Travis and just choose to paint her as the only evil one? I fear for us all. Such an abundance of hate, for a stranger. It’s shameful.

    • I am sure it must be very hard on you Bella to have to see and listen to all the naysayers day in and day out. The “I hate Jodi ” syndrome is terrible but it is also very typical in a case where the victim becomes the perpetrator. If you look at almost any rape case in which a woman was raped and beaten, you will find that the woman, even though she is the victim, gets painted to be the perpetrator when it gets to court. The same thing happens constantly in abuse cases. More often than not, the rapist or abuser gets set free to go do it again… and they do. They just laugh at the court system.
I realize that Travis was your friend and you never saw the side of him that Jodi did. That happens all the time. One thing that I have noticed is that none of Travis’s roommates seemed to have lived there very long.Over the years he seems to have had a lot of roommates. Does it ever enter your mind to question that? Why would there be a constant change of roommates? From what Zac Billings stated, they did not really talk to each other much, they were just occupying the same living quarters. Was Travis the type of person to allow someone to live there, charge them rent, and give them a time frame that they had to be out by?

      • Morning Debbie,

The moving in and out actually, in younger LDS single situations with family, school jobs and expenses that is a very typical occurrence. We had an influx each school year and a decrease over the summer. It was typical.

    • Bella, dear, you answered your own question. The reason why complete strangers can hate someone they do not know, believing all these lies about her and making some up of their own, while disregarding unattractive facts about Travis Alexander, is because they have the luxury of not knowing either of them. You, my friend, do not have such a luxury. You do know them. Well enough to call Travis your friend, not acquaintance, friend. Well enough to call Jodi a sister through your ties within the church (I think I remember reading this but if I’m wrong then I was just seeing if you were paying attention to my post…ha ha…gotcha), not someone you knew of, sister. This puts you right smack dab in the middle of a steamy heaping pile of shadoobie and I, for one, do not envy you one bit.

The public can justify their hatred of Jodi because of how ruthlessly she killed Travis, that she killed him at all, really and they can refer to her incessant lying to reaffirm their hatred of her. The fact that she has killed and that she is a liar means the public will not even bother trying to learn the truth about her or investigate why she was able to do what she did. People don’t just wake up and kill someone like she did one day out of the blue. It is something or a series of things over time that have influenced them, broken them down, or pushed them until, at last, the person who pushes the last bit to cause them to break is the one that catches the fury meant for them, yes, but also for all those who contributed to the build up before them.

There is never an excuse for taking a person’s life. No such thing as a justified murder. There are, however, explanations in terms of the how, why, and what for behind that person’s actions. While the explanation will not excuse or justify, it does help us understand the reason for it and, understanding the reason makes it much easier to cope with it, possibly even prevent it from happening to someone else in a similar situation. Unfortunately, the way this all initially went down and the media’s irresponsible reporting on the case since then, the public has no interest in Jodi’s explanation. Or, more accurately, they will have no empathy or sympathy for such, whatever it may be. First impressions are critical and the public’s impression of Jodi left a bad taste in their mouth.

Travis Alexander’s unattractive facts were not made public until well into the trial once Jodi took the stand. Still, it does not matter what is alleged of him because, look at who’s doing the alleging. A liar. Not just a liar, but, a liar who is facing the death penalty and likely has no problem throwing anyone they can under the bus to save their own life. People keep comparing Jodi to Casey Anthony and I think they’re taking Jodi’s disclosure of Travis’ seedier side as being akin to what Casey Anthony was believed to have been doing when she started talking about her dad and his treatment of her. Both women faced the death penalty and both woman shifted blame on someone else. Difference is, Jodi is admitting to killing Travis even though she doesn’t remember anything past being tackled to the ground after shooting him. She is taking responsibility for her actions and she braved the witness stand and a nasty little gremlin in order to tell her side. She isn’t blaming, she’s explaining, but she’s explaining to retards who refuse to understand. Casey did not do either of those things.

Casey at some point confided in a cell mate and had that cell mate betray her confidence. She was only in there for a couple of years. Jodi has been incarcerated for almost 5 years now and has not had anyone betray her confidence by going to the media or the cops with information pertaining to her guilt. In fact, her fellow inmates BELIEVE HER. I’ve been incarcerated, folks, and I can tell you right now that is a tough crowd to win over. You are in a pod filled with cells containing the best of the best when it comes to bull shit artists and they can smell their own from a mile away. If you try to bull shit them, they get offended and the LAST thing you want to do is offend anyone. Especially, when you are in a prison environment. Unless, you don’t mind the thought of a random ass kicking or face raping sprung on you when you least expect it. If that’s your kind of thing, well, you just bull shit all you want.

So, I actually completely forgot where the hell I was going with this post and it’s way too late for me to proof read to find out where exactly I boarded the tangent train and rode it so far off track that I’m left here wondering what it was I was talking about.

How utterly retarded I can be sometimes. Oh WAIT I remember now but it’s too much and I fear I’ll start going off on tangents again so I’ll just say this:

Bella, your friend Travis was a good man. He was. He had the best intentions and he truly tried to be the man he let everyone believe he was. But, he was damaged beyond repair by parents who failed him on an epic scale. He was taught, by watching his mother and father hit each other, his father leaving his mom the way he did, his mom beating the shit out of him, the drug use that I’m almost certain led to prostitution and then the men in and out of her vagina…..sorry….life likely beat her also if not worse, and any other horror typical for the environment Travis was raised in. His childhood was filled with opportunity for someone to sexually abuse him, statistically, it would have been a given if it happened. I don’t know for sure if it did. But, Travis exhibited too many signs in his adult life for me to think it didn’t.

I know exactly why Jodi kept going back. I know why she stayed even though she caught him looking at young boys while masturbating. I know why she loved him even though their sexual encounters made her feel used and discarded more often than they made her feel cherished and loved. The reason I know is long in detail so I’ll just skip giving the details and say I know why she did all of this because I saw the Travis she saw, the good the bad and the ugly but I also saw the hope, aspiration, intention, struggle, disgust, pain, and torment in him. Most of all, I realized he was a victim of a failed system that should have removed him from his parents, a victim of being raised by a disease not parents, and this resulted in him being a product of his environment. Like I said, so much more goes into it that I can’t begin to go into now.

I might catch shit for this but I don’t care anymore. I’ve realized through this trial so far and all I’ve read from Travis as well as what Jodi has said, plus my own knowledge of the human mind and human behavior has given me tremendous insight, but I’ve realized that you can’t truly love Jodi without also loving Travis and vice versa. Travis supporters would type my eyes out reading that but I’m not talking about loving the Travis he showed to the world. I’m talking about the Travis he really was which was the guy he showed to the world who was struggling with some deeply rooted issues and coping with them the best he knew how but was slowly losing his grip on the control he had over the darker side of himself. Travis the “Pedo”, the sexual deviant, the abuser, the liar, the inspiring, the ambitious, the hilarious, the generous, the amazing…….all of it. One cannot love Travis for who he really is without also growing to love Jodi. Reason being, take it all away, and they are the same. They just coped with their demons in their own ways on the inside and, as a result, they behaved differently on the outside.

Ahhh shit! Now my baby’s up!!!! damn damn double damn! I have a problem and I need an intervention. I’m addicted to this case. To this site. I’m going to rehab tomorrow. After court recesses for the last time tomorrow evening.

      • Wow. Very insightful, Krystal!
Also, have to tell you I highly identify with your experience riding on the tangent train, lol, sometimes it seems to me I cannot travel anywhere without having that particular train as my only availble mode of transportation. It is sometimes difficult to stick to driving just one singular point home, IMO, in light of Einstein’s truth: “Everything is relative”! 🙂

        • In that case, it wouldn’t be unfair to assume you also catch shit for being long winded? Because I am forever teased about being long winded. I’m what they call a “talker” and I can do it forever. I, too, believe that everything is relative. Not only that, but I have suffered great ramifications for assuming that I do not have to explain things I feel should be already known. I learned from the mistakes I made, mistakes my whole family and I paid dearly for, that it is crucial to make your reasons and intentions clear as day when writing messages. Otherwise, there is too much room left to the reader to misinterpret, misconstrue or manipulate what you’ve said and use it against you. I refuse to fall victim to my assumptions where that is concerned ever again.

Then there’s always the fact that I love listening to stories being told by people who invite me into their story, painting a vivid scene for me to watch, describing smells and tastes as well as textures, creating an experience that I may as well have been a part of. Because of this, I tell my stories that way. I’ve only recently begun showing this side of myself to others and, so far, I have not been harped on about being long winded. If anything, I’ve received positive feedback in regard to my writing ability. But, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time.

Still, being a passenger on the tangent train has it’s drawbacks as I often forget where I was going, where I boarded, and what the point of the trip was in the first damn place. Tangents give my mind gas.

    • Sorry for your pain Bella, I wish there were at least one person in your group who was as compassionate as you and you could help each other get through this in real life.

  113. HLN …. they are …. ugh… they are actually running with.. “did the witness have feelings for Jodi”

    SERIOUSLY!?

  114. Did they stop having any trial on In Session?
I tape it, then delete it because as I don’t want to watch two hours of them just talking and
    making fun of Jodi.

It used to go to HLN.afterIn Session, but seems to be all HLN now.
I didn’t know there was a trial today.

Did it start at News Now or making it in America?
I have MIIA, which is a joke hosted by the joker, vonnie.
I also have it on Express.

I quit watching HLN before the Casey Anthony trial and didn’t miss a thing.

Now, they have most of the trial on HLN right through MJV and some times though NG.
I know I’ve said that as soon as this trial is over, I’m going to just block In Session and HLN.
But, I missed I guess the first part of it somehow today.

Can you tell me what time it started today and when it ended?

If it’s already on You tube, I like to watch it that way, then I don’t get commercials and the
    hateful talking heads.
We can get it on our TV screen.

I can’t turn off jaun until after the trial, but I hope that I never hear his name
    again.

I’m looking forward to the next witness, I know she will be good!

    • ALY-In SESSION does not carry this trial any longer. I think it’s been almost a month now. I understand what you mean about JM voices….yikes!!!! I think court starts 10am PT/MT You didn’t miss anything that you haven’t seen before yesterday. If you read the post you can pretty much sum up the whole day.

  115. Kitty,
Next time when he get’s up there, put your TV on mute. I’ve
done that several times. : )

    • Sounds entertaining….just watching the flailing without all the vitriol! Maybe pretend he’s singing or put on some music. My grandaughter and I used to drive down to the water front, put the classical music station on the car radio and watch people flying kites to the music. She swore the kites were dancing to the music……nothing like the joy and wonder of a 5 yr old’s creative thoughts.

I got a little off subject there, but enjoyed sharing the memory.

  116. Fight or flight…

When our fight or flight response is activated, sequences of nerve cell firing occur and chemicals like adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisol are released into our bloodstream. These patterns of nerve cell firing and chemical release cause our body to undergo a series of very dramatic changes. Our respiratory rate increases. Blood is shunted away from our digestive tract and directed into our muscles and limbs, which require extra energy and fuel for running and fighting. Our pupils dilate. Our awareness intensifies. Our sight sharpens. Our impulses quicken. Our perception of pain diminishes. Our immune system mobilizes with increased activation. We become prepared—physically and psychologically—for fight or flight. We scan and search our environment, “looking for the enemy.”

When our fight or flight system is activated, we tend to perceive everything in our environment as a possible threat to our survival. By its very nature, the fight or flight system bypasses our rational mind—where our more well thought out beliefs exist—and moves us into “attack” mode. This state of alert causes us to perceive almost everything in our world as a possible threat to our survival. As such, we tend to see everyone and everything as a possible enemy. Like airport security during a terrorist threat, we are on the look out for every possible danger. We may overreact to the slightest comment. Our fear is exaggerated. Our thinking is distorted. We see everything through the filter of possible danger. We narrow our focus to those things that can harm us. Fear becomes the lens through which we see the world.

We can begin to see how it is almost impossible to cultivate positive attitudes and beliefs when we are stuck in survival mode. Our heart is not open. Our rational mind is disengaged. Our consciousness is focused on fear, not love. Making clear choices and recognizing the consequences of those choices is unfeasible. We are focused on short-term survival, not the long-term consequences of our beliefs and choices. When we are overwhelmed with excessive stress, our life becomes a series of short-term emergencies. We lose the ability to relax and enjoy the moment. We live from crisis to crisis, with no relief in sight. Burnout is inevitable. This burnout is what usually provides the motivation to change our lives for the better. We are propelled to step back and look at the big picture of our lives—forcing us to examine our beliefs, our values and our goals.

  117. Please go report all the items on ebay with Jodi Arias in the item subject line. just search jodi arias…. What’s good for the goose…..

  118. i don’t know if it has been discussed here before. if so, I apologize. But what, pray tell, is JM’s explanation for refilling the gas cans in SLC for the trip home to Yreka, when he is insisting the original reason was to get thru Arizona undetected?

Fine Feral Felines (Foreword by Jodi Arias) Recently, I read what was probably the most adorable
