  1. In terms of this motion for mistrial based on text messages, the docs above show the defense fighting to get some of texts in while the state is calling his texts hearsay. Now, the defense is saying they didnt know about all the text messages. The above docs do show the state was fighting hard not to let the texts in.

I bet they show a pattern of abuse.

    • After listening to Jodi’s testimony thus far and reading one of Travis’s blogs, there is no doubt in my mind that Travis was not a nice person to Jodi. He used her and mentally abused her. I would not be the least bit surprised if Jodi is telling the truth. She dropped the camera and Travis came after her. Granted she should not have killed him. Regardless of the fact that she claims she did, I believe one of two things happened. She did not kill him and is protecting someone such as a family member OR he had pushed her to the limit and she snapped. I know many fiends who have been with sick and perverted men such as Travis. They are called filthy names. The women are told they are crazy. (Another form of control) Worst of all the women go along with the “filthy sex” because they want to please the man whom they are so madly in love with. What does the women get in return? Her boyfriend tells her she is “not his type.” He wants a “good girl.” the nerve. There is no doubt in my mind that Jodi was tormented. It was not JODI obsessing over Travis. It was TRAVIS obsessing over Jodi. His friend, Aaron Dewey, admitted that on HLN. He said, “Jodi was like a drug to him.” I pray that Jodi is found NOT GUILTY.
With that said, I am sorry for Travis’s sisters and brothers. I understand how hard it is to lose a loved one. I wish Travis’s family well, as I do Jodi and her family.
Just listen to their “sex phone call.” that says it all. It was so obvious that Jodi spoke that way to please Travis. As someone so eloquently stated on another site…. I do not have the exact quote. It was basically that Travis was not an innocent victim. Amen to that!
I am sorry for the loss of both families. Truly. Travis is in heaven. I pray that Jodi will get to go home. I know if she could go back in time, she would realize that Travis was not worth it. That is, IF she killed him. Despite her admission I still have my doubts.
I will end by saying that prior to her testimony I thought she should be put to death. Her testimony is genuine and sincere. She has a hard time saying anything bad about Travis even to save her life. I vote NOT GUILTY.

      • I have been saying this exact same thing! I believe this may be a defense pushed upon her by her attorney’s as “the most likely way to defend herself in court”. I also believe the medical examiner was wrong when he said the gun shot would have incapacitated him immediately, but he didn’t know the angle of the bullet or how far away the gun was. The evidence suggests to me the following scenario: he was charging toward a person in the hallway, was shot in the head, fell to the ground, and crawled to the sink and pulled himself up to see how bad he was hurt, when he seen himself, he began to rage even more, where the knife what then grabbed and used by the other person to attempt to stop him once again, the stab wounds on the back were superficial as if the person may have been reaching around him with the knife (as if he had them pinned to ground) after being stabbed, he sat up and the person he had pinned down was able to stab him in the chest, this is were the “defensive wounds” were obtained, (which didn’t appear very defensive to me, but what do I know), then in a last ditch effort to save their own life, the other person simply pulled all the energy left and slashed at him to make him stop (the throat), then in a frantic state, pulled him to the shower, hoping he was still alive, since he appeared to be unstoppable, and fled with the gun in fear he would continue to come after him/her. I don’t believe this was a cold blooded calculated murder in any way and IF she did commit this murder, she did it to save her own life.

      • When I first heard about the murder, Blood Atonement came to my mind. It was first taught by Brigham Young and practiced. Read Mormons church history or Journal of Discourses of Brigham Young. Like Brigham Young, Travis was mentally and sexually abusive to women. There is a connection between the slashing of the throat from ear to ear as a penalty to the crime. Brigham Young had it done to individuals, but never received the penalty for committing the crime himself toward the 27 women whom he used for sex.

      • I’m with you, I have my doubts of her being the person responsible for his death, she was obviously there. but all her testimony re the gun and what not is from things she thinks she remembers. let me know if I am wrong about that.

        • I strongly believe she had to be there to witness the atonement or she too would have to pay. her belief in the Mormon teaching is so strong (brainwash) that I bet she is convinced that all is in Gods hands and she will be fine. That is why she said no jury will convict her.

        • It appears that Jodi could have been drugged during the process of the killing of Travis. Her statement to investiators: “Are you sure it was me?” I wasn’t even there. She mentions intruders and I honestly believe there were intruders. There is no way she could have drug his body from where he was stabbed and into the shower. For the position that Travis was laying it appears he was standing then slid down. Something about the placement of his body just doesn’t seem right.

      • I agree I find it quite disturbing, that he roomates who lived in the house… did not report him missing.. or call the police.. before 5 days.. from the 4th to the 9th.. The roommates could have disturbed the scence zachs footprint was found in blood near the shower stall.. If you lived their dont you think you would see al this before 5 days, What does anyoneelse feel about this.. The defense team should bring this up IN CLOSING ARGUMENTS or before.. because the scene could have been comprimised. Dont you agree.. Why was this not brought up by defense this is a big Beyond a resonable doubt the jury should hear , in closing arguments… or before. I believe they should close their argument with this How do we know the scence was not altered, five days people were in and out of that home without calling police.. the stench had to be in the home.. what really happened that 5 days..went by.. This is reasonable doubt beause Jodi doesnt rember past shooting him..

        • Agreed ,plus in the interview with the cop he said there had to be 2 people!! How could she move the body all by her self all that way? seems strange that all his room mates and friends say the same things about Jodi shes soulless like they have all rehearsed it…also I took the PTSD test on the internet and the DR is right doesn’t matter what trauma it is, you would get the same Results.I feel bad for this girl and I hope she gets off Travis abused her verbally and emotionally. And who gives a rats ass if she lied at first who wouldn’t …Good god I hope the defence has something good coming…GOOD LUCK JODI Canadian fan

          • I think he pushed her to the limit and she snapped, amnd thats probably what martinesz is trying to do with the snow white nonsense. Yell at her, confuse her, discredit her and mind f@$! Miss laviolette till she gets angry then try to illustrate her response as abusive so as to say travis was only abusive because jodi was difficult. Hes been watching too many cheesy court dramas. I will say emotional abuse is more damaging than people realize and im so happy i found this site. I cant speak to jodis guilt or innocence but i have been disgusted with the medias slanderring the woman. Im glad she has people in her corner. Sorry for any typos i wrote this on a phone.

          • I agree, why hasn’t the defense brought this issue up……what happened after JA left the house, his roommate (s) would have smelled something.

      • I was wondering about the dog? Everyone said the dog was loved by TA so why did his roommate assume that he would just leave him there w/out saying anything. And his cellphone was in his office w/ his laptop open? Nobody noticed?
I thought they said she threw water on the floor in the hallway to pull the body? How did she get the better of him? Im lost…

    • I finally found a website for jodi that is not hell bent on having her executed. I am true supporter and know exactly how Jodi felt. I was in an abusive relationship for 10 years and was not ready for the next obstacle in my life. I feel in love with a guy who used me for sex and had complete and total control over me in so many ways. I degraded myself appeasing his abnormal requests only to feel like I was on top of the world by his gratitude for doing those things. I was on an emotional rollercoaster ride. We were long distance so we spent many many hours on the phone for years. In the five years he said he loved me maybe 5 times over my 1,200,000. Never once did I request him too either. I was there to serve him, he knew it and i knew it. I had many many friends, but over time they all dwindled away because he wanted me all to hisself. And at every request, whether him telling me to just stop talking or to tell off my friend whatever he said to do I did. Every time i heard the phone ring i was ecstatic and anything i could to do make him happy was enough in life. because he made me feel like i was on top of the world. He could also take me to embers of hell. He would get angry at something stupid i would say and hang up on me. I was not to call back if he hung up on me. Not saying that i never did, a few times i broke the unspoken rules. He tortured me many ways whether it was taunting me with other females, calling me with a gun in his hand playing russian roulette over the phone to degrading me for anything i had done in my past telling me no one would ever want me. it was pure agony and not once did i ever walk away from it. And neither did he. Even though he didnt say it but those 5 times, he did love me, he loved me for what i gave to him, he loved me being there at all times. but my story ended badly also. only he had his own blood on his hands. he took his life 7 years ago. but still to this day. i love him and his hold on me is just as strong as it was the day he left the world.

      • Very real ! =( So sorry for you. I have been through abusive relationship s …When I was in my teens. My abuser is in jail. 25 yrs, shot a police officer on his way to court. He got out of his cuffs, stopped the police car, took his gun. Shot police officer in the hand and rode away! They got him of course, but he writes to me still….I was 16 when we dated and I am 39! So I related to this.
I was abused young. So, as a grown woman. I stayed away from abusive men. The first red flag of any abusive,I was G O N E.
        MAY GOD GIVE U PEACE.
MAY U FIND PEACE….HORRENDOUS STORY ,VERY SAD AND ACUTELY ACCURATE.
        MADELINE

  2. She went back because she believed he was sorry. It’s really very simple to understand. If people left relationships the minute they felt abused, there would be no need for counseling and services for those people. Domestic battery started become a hot issue in the 80s and many books were and are written on the topic. There is a cycle to the violence and it doesn’t have to involve hitting. The honeymoon phase is what causes the person to stay.

As a survivor, back when I endured abuse, I stayed and made excuses for the person. He was arrested a few times before he was sentenced to prison for domestic battery. I then sought help. I know it sounds baffling but it’s not.

    • Kinda like all those folks at Penn State keeping quiet…some who had no knowledge others who did! As a therapist there are plenty example of no one knowing that pedophilia is happening . Same as he lied about being virgin to his church and those in his religion. It was an act….not to be believed…so not such a stretch to other sexual acts he might have hid!

Tonk about it! Do you think Jodi was his first, second or 20th time……he had to protect his Image!

    • @CJ Perhaps a better place for you to “read” and conduct your research on this case pertaining to Travis & Pedophilia is from words spoken from Travis’s MySpace account from 2006. Chad Perkins, a close friend to Travis since grade school wrote this post to Travis.  This is the comment which (to this day) is  posted on Travis’s MySpace page from Chad Perkins dated 12/22/2006.
“Twas two nights before Christmas, and all through the greater Phoenix area, Travis was cruising for underaged boys to make his Christmas more cozy. Have fun, just don’t violate the terms of your probation.”
Yes Chad may have been joking. All I can say is, what a strange comment to make. If someone had sent myself or my husband such a comment we would have deleted it immediately.  This comment hints to Travis and underaged boys. See for yourself before someone takes it down.
Also, I heard Nancy Grace ask, “Where would he [Travis] get that kind of material! There was nothing on his hard drive.” For Nancy Grace and others: That material is easily sold in adult bookstores. A friend of mines husband found his books back in 1979 from an adult bookstore. If they have quit selling it at the bookstores (and I do not know because I do not visit those places) there are plenty of other ways to get it, just like people purchase illegal drugs online. It is still around. Unless you have experienced this type of abuse, you are ignorant of the facts.

      • Jodi testified she found him looking at pictures of little boys in underwear, it was not actual pornography however it appeared from what he was doing, he was using it in that manner. He could have had advertisements from Sears or Kmart showing little boys in underwear.

        • Hi CC,
Well said. I hear some commentators taking issue with the fact that the boy (in the picture Jodi mentioned) had underwear on, therefore it wasn’t technically “child porn”. But the way I see it, if a guy is jerking off to pictures of little kids, I don’t see what they’re wearing as being so critical.
          SJ

      • SJ posted that comment on this very blog. I don’t get the comment either and I’ve been on social media for years. I would suspect the writer of that comment knows that many a jest has an element of truth to it?

Has Chad P. been one of the friends on this media campaign? I haven’t heard his name mentioned.

        • Yes. Chad Perkins gave an interview. I do not remember which one he did. It was either Nancy Grace, Dr. Drew or Jane Velez-Mitchell. He did not mention his comment and neither did the interviewer, of course. They never mention anything that might be PRO Jodi.
Also, I was shocked to hear Nancy Grace say she might be able to believe Jodi if she had not heard the pre-interview where she is saying, “No jury will ever convict me.” Jodi has already explained why she said that & I believe her.
Very good observation about the little boys & advertisements. I had not even thought about that. Excellent point! I am sorry Travis died. We still do not know how. One thing is for sure. He was not a nice person. Just saying…..
I hope the jury frees Jodi.
One last thought…. Gus Searcy. He was not romantically involved with Jodi whatsoever. He came forward to tell the truth, not knowing if it would help or hurt Jodi. He has since given an interview on (probably Dr Drew or Nancy Grace) where he said there were things he wanted to testify to & the state would not allow it. He heard Travis being mean & yelling at Jodi.

          • Too bad Jodi’s legal team did not use these things like the MySpace message about Travis and his friend’s writing about little boys to help with Jodi’s defense.

        • @SJ whether or not the boy had underwear on is not the issue that fact that he has jerking off to it made it porn (in his mind)

        • @Chad Interesting. So Travis was trying to hide his IP address? HMM. I WONDER WHY A GOOD MORMON MAN WOULD NEED TO DO THAT? I really hope that Jodi remains strong on the stand. Yesterday was probably her worst day. She always appears truthful and honest. Yesterday she seemed to be forgetful. Of course she must be exhausted and undoubtedly wants to forget that day altogether. I pray she has a better day tomorrow.

    • I agree… if others were ever abused they could understand how a person “tolerates” abuse, until pushed her limit . Jodi gave her all to Travis, she went back to see him in hopes they would reconcile . I know for a fact how a person can be manipulated by a man.. I also believe Jodi spoke the truth about the pedophile tendency TravIs had . Why would he even mention any 12 yr old, male or female, while with Jodi.. this tells me if he wasn’t a pedophile, he was on the verge of being one.. I do wish the defense had some women to testify that have been through this kind of abuse .. of course, MARTINEZ would call them liars too…. he who has never lied cast the first stone … One more thing, the mention of Travis not having any porn on his pc at home or work.. he knew he would get caught at work and the pc at home didn’t belong to him… theres your answer.. Nancy Grace ranted on and on about no porn, or how did he get the picture of the boys… go back to the old fashioned way, how about he took the pics with a camera, or even the pics could have been his family members kids…. i hope this is brought up by defense …

  3. I have watched the trial for two days now and just watching today I have to wonder, as the defense keep saying that the Dr. who did the autopsy told prosecuters information of the autopsy, saying he was shot first but in reality he was shot last, and the neck injury would be the first major injury that would disable him and kill him quickly. The rest would result in death but not very quickly.

And also if she did this in self defense why not call police right away and make a report, why run and hide evidence, and know he is controlling and abusive why answer his calls, texts and why go to see him, also why not report it. I have been through somewhat similar abuse and still do to a point but only the control part. I divorced my ex for the same and avoid as much contact as possible, even though I am afraid I had to do something to stop it…

  4. I would love to have her mailing info just to send the simple message…I Believe You….

  5. CJ, I know exactly what you are saying. It took four restraining orders before I finally got the courage to leave my abuser and it was eight years of sheer hell!! Everyone told me to get out but I kept making excuses and believed him every time he “found God”. He became religious when it was convenient for him like convincing a judge that he had “changed”. So many days I can remember feeling desperate enough to do anything to make the abuse stop and to find some relief from the emotional pain. I pray that the jury will be smart enough to see all the facts in this case and decide accordingly. Jodi has already been through enough!

    • Barbara,

I’m happy you got out! It’s so refreshing when a survivor stops by and chats here. I notice many women say thing like they have been abused but have never killed anyone. I wonder about them… The survivors need to speak out for jodi and others still caught in the cycle.

I think of how teens are reading the media about this case and I shudder at what they are learning about how men and women relate ie. stalker vs. Mr. Perfect who was just “BEING A GUY”.

      • It is refreshing to sit and read others be open to their testimonies of abuse…. I dont feel so alone. I myself was caught in a relationship with a man who made up lies and assumptions about me and believed them! He could bring me to my knees defending myself with what was the real truth- only then to call me vulgar names and torment me by hanging up on me while I cried. The emotional abuse was unbearable, I felt as though I was either going to have a heart attack or end my own life. A few days later after his so called punishment, he would say I was such a wonderful woman and none of what he said was ever true…. Honeymoon phase. People say- why did you stay, what did you see in him?? I couldn’t get away from him! It’s so complicated, I believe the abusers are extremely personal and get inside our emotions and fears then use it as control after a relationship and feelings develope. No one WANTS to be in an abusive relationship…. And when caught in that cycle, getting out of it seems impossible. I just recently got out of it (I’ve been trying for 2 years so a total of 4 years of badgering, mental abuse, physical abuse, police reports, etc.) We live in different cities but he has made many unannounced visits.. Frightening seeing him on my doorstep at any given point. My family supports me and I have my own children who have witnessed his horrible behavior. To him it’s all my fault… ( he goes back and forth with being religious) Once he said I had satan in me and that’s why we argued… He then tried to “cast out the devil”. It’s sickening to think of all I’ve had to go through to get away from him. I’ve been trying to escape before it kills me. I still look in my rear view mirror everyday when I leave my home and I keep all my doors and windows locked. I sigh a lot these days and still can’t believe I’m out… I stay alone because I’m afraid to date again… No one should go through this. I feel sorry for Jody… And every other girl/woman who has been in these situations.

        • I understand abuse. I had been abused everyday for the 14 years I was married to a man, and one day, I locked the door of our bedroom while he was banging it and I had a gun I my hand ready to fire at him had he broke the door. I am glad that I didn’t shoot him or I would be in prison by now, facing the death penalty.

  6. Does anyone know if there is a document on the web or a location that I can read the text messages that transpired between Jodi and Travis?

    • i am lookin into this cause i want to read them as well… i also have ppl lookin into the “pedo” probation stuff

    • @CJ and Tami Crim. If you find the text message and/or e-mail docs please post the link. I would like to read them as well.

      • I said CJ and probably meant JC. Either/or.Who is in charge of this site? Excellent set up! Thank you to all who support Jodi.

  7. What I want to find is the email between Hughes and Travis, anyone know where I can find a copy of it? I also want to read the text messages between Jodi and Travis.

    • @H Yes. Although my guess is Travis told his friends one story and Jodi another. He was very dishonest. Still I would be interested in reading any and all of the messages. Let us know if you find a link. @SJ Are you aware of any links on the Internet for reading the text and e-mail transcripts? Thank you!

  8. I can understand what happened. She was treated like a prostitute and kept hoping against hope that he would come to love her. But he saw her as beneath him and not worthy of wife material. What she did was wrong, but I can see where you could lose it. She just had enough.

  9. May i just say that any one that can not see this sweet Jodi has not been abused is a fool that has been fooled by a “charmer” Remember Satan charmed Eve in the Garden of Eden!!! How is TA any different then Satan in the Garden of Eden???

  10. Seems to me Jodi was the subject of horrible abuse. Abuse that no one could understand unless you’ve lived it. I believe she was truthfully looking for love and companionship. I know how men can operate. Even at my age I still get hit on by the jerks. I hope Jodi gets a fair break in all this quagmire. You have supporters up here so please stay strong. When ever things got to be too much I always spun the Moody Blues on the turn table. Helped me regain consciousness.

    • I always played the I will survive song. Yes I agree. Until you have walked in someone else’s. Shoes, you have no clue. I believe she should be found innocent. Her attorney is good but I think Jose is the best. I wish ive was representing her. He is awesome. Prayers for Jodi. May God be with the jury during deliberation. Thank you SJ for the site. You are awesome.

    • Hello, all. I’m new to this site, and I am so glad I found it. I was beginning to think that I was the only one who is seeking justice for Jodi. I just finished watching all of Jodi’s testimony from her defense attorney, and I began watching Juan Martinez’s cross-examination. Within 2 minutes of his questions my heart started racing and I felt SO much anxiety! I felt as though I was the one on the other end of his questioning! I found myself trying to coach Jodi on what to say. But Jodi handled it beautifully.

Yes, I have been in an abusive relationship (emotional–not physical), too, as so many of you seem to have been. I had the same opinion before I watched Jodi’s testimony that most of the country has–that she was/is “psycho.” But now that I have spent the past several days totally immersed in her testimony, I understand where she is coming from. As someone else posted, unless you have lived in an abusive relationship, you do not understand what it does to you.

Yes, it is wrong to kill someone. But at THAT PARTICULAR MOMENT OF TIME, Jodi felt she had no other choice than to do what she did to Travis. It was SELF-DEFENSE–it was certainly not premeditated. Of course, the trial is over now and she was found guilty by the jury of first-degree murder. This is so wrong!!! Our justice system is messed up–it finds OJ innocent and Jodi guilty of first-degree murder.

I have read many comments on youtube from people who claim to have watched her testimony yet are calling for her execution. If they truly did watch and listen to her testimony (and I bet they didn’t), and still did not come away from it believing she was telling the truth, then this is a sick country indeed.

I agree with Ron from Kanada: the Moody Blues’ music has helped me get through a lot through the years. I wish Jodi could listen to them, too. Peace be with you, Jodi.

  11. If I was on the jury Jodi would walk and be given restitution for putting up with that nasty little prosecuter. I can beleive the judge tolerates his antics. Anytime a woman kills a man he probably had it coming. Persons like Nancy Grace have already convicted Jodi in the media – why is this allowed? I admire Jodi’s calmness under this kind of pressure, which gives me reason to beleive she is a gentle person. The only real crime is that such a beautiful, intelligent woman would get involved with such an abusive tool and put up with his crap.

  12. Using Martinez’s logic, if it is not in Jodi’s diary then it didn’t happen, so there must be an entry describing the planning of this murder – why hasn’t he produced it? He also is implying that a woman who enjoys sex cannot be a victim of abuse. Furthermore, any woman who does not want to run out of gas in the middle of the desert at night is guilty every time.

If this is a premeditated act wouldn’t she have always paid in cash, brought gloves, killed him quick and clean and not dragged the body to the shower for no apparent reason. There is insufficient evidence for a conviction of first degree murder.

This guy was certainly no prize in looks or morality (i.e. using the Mormon church to advance his shakey career of selling suckers legal insurance). She must have low self esteem to even want to be with him and obviously masochistic to enjoy being degraded. And any man who has that many pairs of shoes in his closet is vain, self absorbed and on a power trip. He got off on abusing a beautiful, intelligent woman and he took it too far and she snapped. Blackout anger is real and happens more often then people realize.

She admits to lying to the police to avoid incarceration and that should be taken at face value – not played out against her current, under oath testimony. They say this prosecuter is a pitbull but he reminds me of an oversexed chihuahua who loves to hear Jodi’s dirty talk which is totally irrelevant.

And these bloodthirsty, grinning jackals on TV that want to see this woman die should apply for a job at FOX news, because they have no interest in the truth, the facts or justice.

  13. I have a lot of questions that have not been answered…yet. I look forward to you answers. If you would like to send your answer to my private email I am fine with that. First, I would like to tell you that I am a survivor. I was beaten, vicously verbally abused, belittled, thrown out of our home daily and fired from the company he owned daily for a period of 8 years. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks to this day and its been 15 years.

I don’t understand how in a few months she suffered from major abuse. Especially when she didnt live near him till after they broke up. Can you tell me how in that time major abuse was felt? As a survivor it took 2 years of being with my “partner” 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to start feeling abused.

How do you account for how he was shot in the left side of the head and it came out his cheek if she did’nt shoot him in the right temple? We know that bullets go in a straight line. If he was coming at her face or head first as she said on the stand how did it come out his cheek? i would love to hear you ideas that would make this make sense to me and other that are asking the same question.

Why after she shot him and stabbed him why continue stabbing him? Why not just leave then? Why the overkill? I can see that in a crime of passion such as going to Cancun with another but I cannot wrap my experienced brain to explain the 27 stab wounds or cutting his throat. Please tell me why you believe she continued.

Why did she drive two hours out of her way to rent a car? If you rent a car from Budget, or any car rental place, they match prices from store to store and even company to company. She didnt save any money going two hours away. Do you know why she went so far away?

She said that Travis called her in the middle of the night “guilting” her into driving out of her way to his home. Why is there no proof of that? They have the phone records when did he call her? Did I miss that since I did miss some of the defendent part of the trial.

If she knows/remembers where she stopped in the middle of the desert and got out of her car and threw the gun out in the middle of the desert has anybody searched for it? That would really be awesome to find that item and would difinitivly answer the question on the table. So has anybody looked for it or the knife?

I would love to get your opinion on these unanswered questions and Im sure other readers have the same questions. Lastly, if they convict her of 2nd degree murder how much time will she recieve for that? I understand that manslaughter would be time served followed by her immediate release. When you say you (she) will be victorious what does that mean? Once the verdict comes who give the sentence time? I know thats a dumb question but I’m curious. Is it the judge that gives the sentence or jurors?

Do you have the email from Travis to Jodi?

Thank you so much…. if you choose to answer my questions.

  14. MY PERSONAL THOUGHTFULNESS AND CONSIDERATION REGARDING jODI’S UP-AND-COMING CLOSING ARGUMENTS BY THE PROSECUTOR AND BY HER AWESOME ATTORNEY, KURK NURMI.

1.- Amazingly during Jodi Areas’s entire criminal trial, I will admit that I was more than shocked upon finding out that the Arizona Supreme Court did not offer any comments as to why they did not agree to sequester the members of the jury, and this at all times when Jodi’s trial would not have been in pro-gress. For this could certainly have disallowed some members of the jury to possibly become widely influenced especially by negative observations, assertions and personal conflicting ideas continuously being injected by the media while ceaselessly poking at Jodi, and more specifically by the three sunset television shows commented by Jane Velez-Mitchell, Nancy Grace and internist Dr. D. Pinsky. In my opinion, these three television viewing are the worst ones by far, politically speaking, more so by their personal manner of discrediting and disfavouring uninterruptedly the alleged person or alleged group of individuals involved in such high-profile criminal court cases, such as the former O. J. Simpson trial, the Casey Anthony trial and now, unfortunately, the Jodi Areas criminal murder trial. And incredulously, why do the said first two newscasters always need to cough out their on the spur of the moment word stock by constantly yelling at their audience? Hello!

2.- In relation to the members of the jury being authorized to ask multifarious questions to the alleged defendant/petitioner as part of her trial’s progress, I am of the opinion that the defendant’s final turn of event could optimistically find itself on the side of the petitioner or saddly on the side of the prosecution. Hence the only other option available would be for the members of the jury to continuously agree to disagree on one and final ruling or verdict, while disallowing them to reach a unanimous agreement of being found either “guilty” or “not guilty”. In such a situation, a “mistrial” could fortunately be viewed to be the best outcome for the defendant, or most likey the worst ascertainment for the prosecution.

3.- However, retrials in criminal cases can be ordered to take place in certain instances. As already inferred, certain reasons for criminal retrials may take place as a result of jury deadlocks, meaning that they were not able to reach a final unanimous agreement, or an authoritative error may have been committed having made the trial unfair. Or during the trial, there may have been a serious error engaged such as witness tampering.

4.- While being consciously aware that I cheerfully possess two very interesting characteristics which I purposefully developed years ago and still respect both of them more than immensely, I will simply affirm that I have almost always been and still am able to continue to be a positive and optimistic mortal member of the human race. However, regarding numerous criminal “mistrials” that I have heard about, read, followed and still remember very well, I unfortunately found out that when a criminal trial ended in a “mistrial” and was retried, often enough the defendant/petitioner was found guilty the second time around. Be that as it may, I am also aware that in certain situations regarding specific criminal “mistri-
als”, the prosecutor must weight whether such a retrial is truly feasable. In other words, a prosecutor, by law, must only prosecute defendants believed to be found truly guilty.

5.- Having watched Jodi’s criminal trial very attentively up to now, I am still of the opinion that she should not receive more than a second degree criminal conviction. Obviously while depending on the two experts who will take the stand on her behalf and further to the closing arguments by the prosecutor and Jodi’s defence attorney Mr. Kirk Nurmi, I may suddenly find myself with no other alternative but to reshuffle the cards and become obliged to bring a change in my previous assessment and final decision. Time only, including additional pros and cons directly relevant to additional defensibilities will tell!

6.- My next comments to follow may well be my most important observations and suggestions directly pertinent to Jodi’s up-and-coming wheel of fortune and positive astral influences. As a result, I am obliged to ask the person responsible for “The #1 Jodi Areas Support Site” who writes her initials “SJ” to kindly pay much attention while rivetting not only her eyes but especially her mind as well, both pertinent to my suggestive recommendation in order to hopefully allow Jodi to even receive less if not much less than a second degree conviction at the very end of her more than excruciating intellectual, emotional and physical strain and pain directly relevant to her unbelievable criminal murder trial.

7.- Here is what I have thought about, analyzed and finally decided to give vent to!

8.- “SJ”, would you kindly continue to read while keeping your mind’s windows and doors wide-opened!

9.- First, I need to refer you to the Casey Anthony criminal murder trial including the one Jodi is currently involved in. The main reason for this particular reference is that both trials are similar in relation to what I will specifically suggest for you to also think about, analyze and give vent to, but only if you willfully agree to participate accordingly.

10.- Having carefully watched and constantly followed the Casey Anthony criminal trial as attentively and as painstakingly as I have done and am mimicking the same procedure regarding Jodi’s criminal trial, the most important legal aspect or factor required by “each member” of the “jury” to “obey” and to
“follow” at all times during their deliberation in the Jodi criminal trial, will be to “never forget” that their “thinking procedure”, their “analyzing implication” and their “final consideration”, “determination” and “verdict” will be required, at all times, to be “perceived”, “felt”, “understood” and “agreed” “BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT”.

11.- Hence the expression “BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT” would be the “KEY” to “ACQUIT”, to
“REDUCE THE CONVICTION” or the “SENTENCE”, or unfortunately to still “CONVICT” Jodi, but hope-fully for not more than a second degree murder conviction.

    12. In order to prevail accordingly, it would be necessary to have someone communicate with Jodi’s leading defence attorney, Mr. Kirk Nurmi, in order to discuss with him if he would agree to consider the possibility of taking approximately fourty-five minutes during his second and final closing arguments in order to describe and explain to the members of the jury the significance and neediness of constantly utilizing the “BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT” theory especially relative to a criminal murder trial of such an important nature.

13.- Incidentally, even if the judge explains this important legal procedure to the jury, I would still clearly suggest to Mr. Nurmi to personally describe to the jury the said very powerful legal procedure, with at least one or two examples to better clarify the importance of such an authoritative legal procedure.

14.- And finally, pertinent to my unprecedented and stupendous surprise, I am totally convinced that this procedure by itself is exactly how Mr. Jose Baez, Casey Anthony’s leading defence attorney, succeeded in acquitting his client whom hardly anyone ever thought that she could, and more importantly would be acquitted of the unfortunate death of her young daughter Caylee Anthony.

15.- “SJ”, you have my Email address. Thus if you require any additional information, you are welcome to communicate with me by Email, at your convenience.

16.- Incidentally, I would like to commend you for having participated in creating Jodi’s website entitled
“The #1 Jodi Areas Support Site”. Very impressive!

  15. I just read the minute order document for 3/13/13. Each juror was voir dired in chambers – quote from court document:

“11:39 a.m. All parties convene in chambers.
Discussion is held and each Juror is individually Voir Dired.
    Further discussion is held.
IT IS ORDERED this hearing (from 11:39 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.) shall remain sealed not to
be opened without prior order of the Court.”

Any thoughts on what this may have been about?

I truly believe that one or more of the jurors is watching Vinnie,Jane, Nancy, etal because some of their questions seem to mimic the babble spewed from the talking heads. What would be the result if this was found to be true? Dismissal of an individual juror would not be sufficient because the questions have been heard by the other jurors and tainted them.

    • Of Course they are watching., or at the very least they are being told by friends or family what is going on on TV late night wih Vinny

  16. Although I dont agree about Casey Anthony being innocent, I do how ever believe that Jodi did do this in self defense. And as far as Travis being into little boys well I believe that as well, because if Jodi was going to make something like that up in her head……why use little boys when she could just say he was in to little girls which is clear from the phone sex conversation. So if she was lying about something like that she would have just said he was into 12yr old little girls (which he obviously was into them too). No man says something like that let alone have fantasies of something like that period. How would Nancy Grace feel if that was her little girl Lucy that he was fantasizing about while he was having phone sex with Jodi or better yet what if it was her little boy John Davids picture that Travis was jerking off too. Bet she would think twice about being so hasty and nasty when it comes to Jodi then. If Jodi does get convicted well then I will have to say it would be HLN and all the negativity they have about Jodi on EVERY night to the point that I dont even have the desire to watch that channel ever the way they shit talk so much and never have an objective view on any of it…….like the jury isnt watching all that crap…yeah right I know better than that and so does HLN thats why they behave the way they do when it comes to this trial.

  17. I just signed the petition “TRIAL BY MEDIA IS WRONG! STOP THE SPIN!: Headline News (HLN) Nancy Grace, Jane Velez-Mitchell, Jean Casarez, Vinnie Politan, Dr. Drew!” on Change.org.

It’s important. Will you sign it too? Here’s the link:

    http://www.change.org/petitions/trial-by-media-is-wrong-stop-the-spin-headline-news-hln-nancy-grace-jane-velez-mitchell-jean-casarez-vinnie-politan-dr-drew

Thanks! Please if you feel the same sign and share! The mob mentality is rampant by their followers! Irresponsible journalism!

    • I hope people comment and talk about the victim blaming going on with their network and followers. My husband is going too. He has always been empathetic about my past but when he watched the expert’s testimony, he realized more about DV and it’s effects. The victim blaming has to stop. It’s a way to silence all victims!

      Sorry about my venting.

  18. Anyone have any idea which date they deemed the letters forgeries? I haven’t seen anything that confirms they were. Just that they were precluded.

Since the original motion to preclude the letters states that photocopies aren’t allowed, I’m still pretty convinced this is the reason why they were.

One of the minute entries says that the expert analysis of the letters would be concluded by 3/18/11 yet they don’t get precluded till August. Why months later? Why not after the analysis was completed?

Other than Chris Hughes acting the fool on the stand and saying they were forgeries I can’t find any other proof. Just this ridiculous seed Chris planted with the help of Martinez.

If Sandra Arias has copies of those, why hasn’t she allowed them to be posted on this site? It’d probably help a lot.
And Why in the world does CH have TAs journal? Shouldn’t that be evidence?!?

  19. I have worked in the legal field for more than 35 years and what I have observed in Jodi’s trial is an abundance of gross abuse of prosecutorial authority. As anyone in the field knows, a prosecutor’s role in a trial is to search out the truth regardless of what the truth may be. Even if the truth hurts his case, it is his duty and responsibility to the office of prosecutor to ensure it comes out. The prosecutor in Jodi’s case is clearly not interested in anything that draws out a positive point in Jodi’s favor. He has made this charade a personal one. If I was representing Jodi, my first point in closing argument would be: “how many times has the prosecution presented to you, the jurors, anything that supports Jodi’s defense? None. And, the reason why. He has made this trial a personal one. He has not fulfilled his duties to harness the truth. He did not tell you what he knew, what he was aware of that would have supported Jodi’s defense. His only concern has been his ability to portray himself as a hollywood prosecutor in the most talked about film in town. Do you really believe he had no evidence handed to him that is exculpatory to Jodi? How many of those things did he mention those exculpatory points to you? The truth is what we seek in the criminal justice system and the prosecution has not sought to do so. And, because there is evidence and facts that would have been exculpatory to Jodi in the prosecution’s arsenal, that was not presented, for whatever reason, that is enough to establish a reasonable doubt as to her guilt or innocence. Don’t let this be one of those trials where years from now the truth comes out and it is then determined that Jodi was innocent all along. You have the ability to prevent that from occurring by delivering the only verdict that conforms to the law, that is: Jodi is not guilty.” Let the actor playing prosecutor mull over that point. Good luck Jodi. I am always available to do some free legal research for you.

    • Excellent argument. Juan Martinez is being celebrated for abusing his power. This relentless persecution by the media and in social media seems to fire Juan up. None of his “fans” batted an eye even though the defense made a few reports of prosecutorial misconduct. It speaks to public sentiment that the State are the good people and the defense is the bad. He overcharged this case first and foremost. I find it beyond disturbing that 7 jurors decided premeditation and felony murder. I tried to look at every document and watched all of the trial, read all of the jury instructions as well as the indictment. The State, as you eloquently pointed out, should present a clear case to the jury.
How did the jury believe beyond a reasonable doubt that a 2nd degree burglary was committed (Theft of Travis’ gun) and that it was premeditated (planned by stealing Jodi’s grandparents gun)? How can both theories presented by the State be true?

  20. I still think someone came in after Jodi shot him and finished him off. Why? possibly for having pedophile tendency towards children. How can little Jodi pull a 200 lb dead man into the shower, and why would someone else Travis in the shower?… to remove finger prints and evidence that there was more person responsible for his death.

    • I agree with Leonard. Jodi is a petite woman, as am I. There is no way in a thousand years that I could pull a 200-lb. dead man down the hall and into a shower, or even a 100-lb. dead man. This is a very good and important point, and apparently sadly overlooked.

  21. lets say Jodi told the Hughes about Travis masturbating to the picture of one of their children and warned them not to let Travis sleep over anymore because she was moving on with Ryan. Then the Hughes call Travis to discuss it and he said she was a stocking bitch and that they moved on then on May 28th he sends the letter or email to Jodi screaming at her. then done over with. Jodi prepares to go on the trip to Utah to see Ryan who for some reason want to know if she is going to put out some booty call when she comes but instead she calls Travis one last time while she is traveling and Travis all broke up about not getting any from Mimi say come see me and Jodi does because she thinks maybe he has changed his mind about her. she arrives at 4 or so and he is still up the sleep or maybe not then have sex that day she gets dressed ready to leave and he asks her to take pictures of him with is new looking body she does then all hell breaks loose and the story to Flores is told but no one believed her because everyone has already said she did it they have not got the scape got. Jodi runs for her life but need to show up at Ryan because she said she would be there but meets Dan Hall and others at this so called meeting after she is invited to go 4 wheeling they tried to kill her but she said have to work she gets home and she is called again but Dan Hall then she buy a gun tells her dad she is afraid have to go. or lets not forget the second time to kill her lets go camping she does not go in the mean time Travis sits in the shower she tried to get him help when she call at the dam she stopped at hoping that someone would check on him 5 days and we now have Mimi hall to go over ????? who called her if she did not want him for sex and only a friend and 1 day away and see new nothing she tells Flores she did not know Jodi so someone else said Jodi and someone had laptop to show her photo for 5 days that house was left open for anyone to come and go as they please and as Gus said someone knew what happened and will not come forward to tell because of what he went thru now we are here with the jury and murder in the 1st degree and the the KKK mob wants blood Jodi blood but her to death they want why so she will not talk about what she knew or someone else new and when the jury let her down she said i cant win I the cards are stacked against me so just kill me and get it over with. so they put her on suicide watch and here we are again today she you May 15 ….. .

    • I think that the way the prosecution handled this case was akin to witch hunts all those years ago… I agree that there was not enough evidence to convict her. I believe that Travis did abuse her and she was defending herself. Also if it was premeditated why would she save all those receipts and give her real name? also why would she file a police report about the stolen gun? Is it not possible that Travis’s friends are all lying about him having a gun because they wanted Jodi convicted because they clearly did not like her. The way the Nancy grace show and HLN after dark portrayed Jodi was awful and wrong. They twisted what was said in court and omited anything that could possibly be pro Jodi. These shows are awful and should not be allowed to continue. There were many other important news stories during this trial such as the CASTRO CHARACTER AND THOSE POOR WOMEN WHO WERE KIDNAPPED AND NANCY GRACE NEVER EVEN MENTIONED IT. She claims to be for justice but her need to appeal to public demand for blood means more than real news stories. Good luck Jodi and may god bless you and your family. Be strong.

  22. I don’t know if this has been posted before but it comes from the court document regarding the mental competency of Ms. Casandra Collins (dated June 2012). This is the nut case whose word the media is using to further slander Jodi.

THE COURT FINDS the Defendant is unable to understand the nature of the proceedings and/or is unable to assist counsel in Defendant’s defense, and is therefore criminally incompetent, pursuant to A.R.S. Section 13-4517(1).
THE COURT FURTHER FINDS that there is no substantial probability that Defendant will be restored to competency within 21 months after the date of the original finding of incompetency.
Based upon the written report(s) of the expert(s) and any other testimony and evidence submitted,
THE COURT FURTHER FINDS that there is reasonable cause to believe that the Defendant is a danger to self, a danger to others, persistently or acutely disabled, or gravely disabled as a result of a disorder pursuant to A.R.S. Section 36-501, et seq.
THE COURT FURTHER FINDS that the Defendant is not willing and is not capable of voluntarily consenting to admission to a mental health treatment agency for the evaluation, care or treatment of his/her mental condition.
THE COURT FURTHER FINDS that the Defendant is likely, without immediate or continued hospitalization, to suffer serious physical harm or serious illness, or to inflict serious physical harm on another person prior to evaluation and further hearing.

  23. Jodi’s state of mind is a big concern, this is why I don’t think she will get the DP. The jurors knew her state of mind was not right at the time. Fight flight response can make one do anything to survive. Who knows what her state of mind was. The jurors that voted against the DP considered this. Seen it on an interview with two of the jurors. God bless Jodi…

  24. It is my opinion, not fact, that Travis got what he deserved! Jodi could not have done this herself.
